Hi everyone .I am new to this forum.I live just outside of ft lauderdale florida .I have a 05 quad cab with 101000 miles on it and a couple days ago i was leaving my house and truck was seemingly running like i had bad gas i got a block or so down the road and it sounded like a rod was going to come out of motor. I turned around and went straight home.My question is does anyone on here know where I can have it towed to down here somewhere close to fix or rebuild if necessary .I dont need 900 hp just a bone stock reliable rebuild.thanks

NC is to far it would need to be towed.was thinking somewhere between west palm and miami

anyone ever heard of Doug levine motorsports in Davie Florida and if he is any good

I've personally talked to Doug several times and he's helped me with my Viper. I'm not sure if he's taking on that kind of work, but if you're against shipping the truck (or having someone pick it up), I'd start with who's closest.

One reason i thought of him was i saw on i think it was viper ally forum or something and according to the address he is about 3 miles from my house.Mabey save some money on shipping and time since its my daily driver

I used ARD Motorsports they are in GA when I bent a piston rod to rebuild mine. I feel your pain though, finding a shop in your home state that works on the viper v10 can be hard.

I'd give sean roe a call? He's in FL right? I know he doesnt do engine builds anymore but im sure he can recommend somebody in FL at the very least.

Here is anothe thought a used motor.I found one used with 20000 on it but its for a manul and i am told bolt patters is different but there might be a converson kit out there avalible.9500 for motor plus conversion kit if such thing plus labor for swap? Can i get mine rebuilt for same or even close
if i ship it somewhere and back?

Venomous1 what type of money do you think it will take to do a rebuild ?

You can rebuild your motor for cheaper then 9500, it really depends on what kind of rebuild you want to do, top end rebuild? Built motor? Top and lower?

Again depends on your goal. Stock rebuild? Forged rods, pistons, biller mains, etc? $6500-20,000 lol
Cam? Heads? Shape of current block? Crank?
Holler at me and we'll get you what you NEED.

Doug Levin is not taking on that work anymore. I was one of the few trucks he worked on when I did my supercharger with him. These motors are really nothing special a basic push rod 360 with an extra 2 cylinder which brings in the Viper tax. At the very minimum even if you were to go back to stock (if you don't have to bore the cylinders) I would deck hone the block and freshen up the cylinder heads (install new valve seats). I speak from experience I lost my motor after my first rebuild because I didn't replace them. I know that Doug has a deck that you MUST use in order to properly hone the block. Hope this helps
