4.10 To 4.56 Rear Gear?

How bad will the mpg take a hit going to 4.56? I changed out my Challenger's 3.06 to 3.73 and it cost me 2 mpg.

My 05 RC in the state of tune its in gets 11 MPG overall. If I'm just cruising the freeway at 70, it will get 17 MPG. The .5:1 top gear really pays dividends.

Man I wish I could get that in my QC. I'm thinking of going the other way to 4.10s. I get like 6mpg on average around town lol. I do love rolling burnouts though...

Anyone that gets semi decent mileage is driving it like a soccer mom (auto) or short shifting every gear.

If you want mpgs you should have got a different truck
I knew that one was coming. Been on forums for hot rods for years and anytime someone even hint's at mpg it's always "should have bought you a Toyota" or something on that order. But's that's o.k. when you know it's coming doesn't really matter.

I wasn't saying that in a dickish manner or anything I was just saying it. Just so ya know

No offense taken Iron "keep on trucking"! I've gotten to old to let things bother me much, just want my beer cold, women hot and my hot rods ready to lay the rubber down!

No code, no tuner needed. Sensor is atop ring gear and reads from there. My opinion from working on and driving hundreds of these beasts is leave it alone and spend your money on go fast goodies instead. 4.10 was chosen to break the Guinness record. 4.56 geared truck would run out of gear to try and hit 154 stock. Fact is the two fastest, NA trucks are both 11.7 trucks and one with 4.10, the other with 4.56!

What the Hell are you talking about? Both ratios require being in 5th gear. Had both, been there with both. 4:56's are by far the best gear for these trucks. If you're trying to accomplish "154mph", going to the strip (and not running a 28" slick to offset the difference in gearing), or just around town, the 4:56's are the king. Had an 06 and an 04 back to back... unbelievable difference between the two gears!

Im fixing to try some 4.10s since i am going in to overdrive at about 1000ft with the 4.56 gears... #questfor10s

What are you running for 1/4 miles times and trap speeds? In a stick 4th gear is 1 to 1, I would assume your final drive gear would also be 1 to 1 prior to shifting into OD? Am I wrong here or are you doing in excess of 120mph through the traps?

So out of the 4 pages i've read, you only want a lower rear end gear to make you feel better when putt putting on the highway in 6th gear.

If that's the case, leave it a lone.
