Hello And happy new years to everyone I'm wondering if anyone has ran into this issue truck had about 103,000 miles just putting that out there but been chasing down this chirp for awhile it's only on start up until the truck warms up then it's gone for the rest of the day. Ok had a alternator issue changed that out still chirp until engine is warmed up tensioner pulley rattle changed whole assembly mopar parts still chirps ' idler pulley changed that out as well still chirps until warm brand new Goodyear gator belt cleaned all pulleys while belt was off the truck twice to make sure still chirps until warm now here is the weird part power steering pulley if I shoot a quick stream of pb blaster right smack in the middle before start up it does not chirp or if I even start it up and spray it on power steering pulley it stops chirping once I spray but I'm confused and annoyed there are no bearings in this pulley .And almost forgot last year when the power steering line fitting went bad I drove the truck with little fluid back to my house a mile away it's done this chirping thing ever since then off and on . Thanks for any input or advice in advance people . :dontknow:

Sorry for long message just want to make sure I covered everything with you all ...

I have had this issue sounds like you changed everything. From past experience if I put anything on the belt I had to change the belt otherwise it would squeak. Check your crank pulley bolt is tight

That I didn't check but since it's an 06 I figured I was safe with that issue of that bolt coming loose so iron affliction your saying after it was all said and done you just put a new belt on and it stopped because my belt is brand new almost 2 months old Goodyear quiet gatorbelt

Could it be the actually power steering pump bearings that could of gone bad when I drove it dry when the one fitting I'm sure we all have changed the one ontop went bad on me looking back at this all the chirp and squeal all started after that issue idk I'm just guessing man I'm frustrated thought I'll tell you that much

Maybe it is your PS pump thats all that's left to change. You said you already changed your belt so guess its not that

I had a chipr like that and it was the water pump. Water pump didn't leak a drop but it would chirp chirp chirp and drive you nuts.

lol chirp chirp chirp but why would it stop with a squirt of pb blaster on power steering pulley not belt the center of pulley I doubt it's the water pump it's very quiet with flatehead screw driver and piece of hose as a hearing tool

Yea well I might just change it out now I meen 'shoot this has been going on for awhile now to be honest off and on at least for the better part of a year summer time was better as far as squeal and chirp went really weird but you know it just keeps popping back in my head it all started the day after my power steering line fitting went out after I fixed the fitting is when this all started I'm guessing I ran it dry that day on my way home when it broke and I have had the occasional hard to steer steering wheel twice but that all but fixed itself .But the last thing I want is for it to go out on me far from home so unless any of you guys /gals have a better idea I'm going to get a new power steering pump .I will try however this last ditch effort to fix by flushing the fluid and putting clean fluid in there and go from there I will chime back in once I get a fix so that it can help others incase they run into this thanks trussman and iron affliction for the input

Mine chirped when cold after new Ac pump, the had a washer the wrong side of th compressor. I bet your belt is out of alignment.

I have taken the darn thing off like 4 times in last year but hey anything is possible my friend anytips on installing the belt at this point I'm willing to double triple check everything

The Welshm was correct the belt was not lined up correctly kept installing a little off alignment it would run over water pump pulley a bit too much to the rear i moved it up and this annoyance seems over for now .....thanks for the advice

Check to ensure pulley isn't spinning on pump. Quite possible

Got an update on your issue erobins? I cranked mine up sitting a few hours and had no power steering. Then it started working again. I also heard a whirring noise. I’m 99% sure I need to change the pump. Will dive into it in morning when its cooled off.

If the chirping be loud enough it help you not hear that annoying siren sound behind you. :D

Mine does not chirp but on raining mornings the power steering does not work till I turn the steering wheel back a forth a few times. Then all is well so go looking for the next victim.
