So I’m driving to work @60 mph just cruising this morning and all of a sudden it bucks, I look down full tank of gas, battery is at plus 14 oil pressure is good, so I start slowing down for this light and I put the clutch in to down shift and I hear a loud whistle/squeak and I glance at the oil pressure it dropped to 0, I just shut it off at that point and let it coast, left the keys in the ignition, and left it there, hitchhiked back to my house to get my other car and called the tow truck ! Interesting morning

I think I got either a truck that was ran hard and never maintained or just bad luck , for as low mileage this thing is non stop on breakdowns

Damn you can't catch a break sorry to hear this

It seems the low mileage ones have more issues from sitting too much. over 84k on mine and never an engine issue.

Hmmm, I don't know about that. I have 71 years in May and I am literally falling apart. :burnout:

Sorry to hear of more troubles :( Hoping you get her all dialed in real soon

One thing after another ! I’ve got my 99 dakota with the 5.9 built with spray, 90k on the clock and other than the cam being swapped it’s got stock internals and it’s been through hell and back

That’s what I was thinking, here’s the thing , ever since I picked it up from the dealership, it’s had a starting problem, I put the charger on it over night , had the charging system checked there at the dealership, I’m thinking it was a bearing getting ready to spin

Sounds like a bearing spun/seized :(

This issue sounds like a bummer. Yeah, you are having more problems than usual.
When it comes to the "spun bearing" or "seized bearing". The reason for the bearing failure does not originate with the "bearing". (Unless it was installed improperly during a rebuild.)
Big end rod failures are typically initiated by cavitation from not enough oil volume, too low of oil level (suck an air bubble), not enough oil pressure per every 1K RPM or too many dry starts without an adequate protective oil film on the bearings before the start. The secondary reason for a big end failure is the seizure of the piston in the cylinder while the crank is still rotating. Usually, when the piston seizes (due to detonation or improper piston ring to cylinder clearance), the small end will fail first and saw a hole in the crank case. In the case of stronger rods, the rod will bend and beat the living daylights out of the big end. The color and condition of the bearing will provide forensic evidence of the cause of failure.
Let's hope you have a small issue that does not cost 10K. However, with your pressure dropping to 0 while driving is a bad sign.:(
Hopefully you were running high quality oil and a proper filter.

Good Luck. Cheers!

Just reviewed your thread re; your issue with the truck at the dealer. The clogged cat's could be the origination of your current issue. The extremely high crank case pressure may have disrupted the oil flow and caused indirect cavitation. The cat's "melting" to the point of clogging could be a clue of a lean condition also.
The extended periods of sitting did not help and you do not know how it was treated or handled.

Ive seen it all too often. Some of the experts around here seem to think otherwise. Most of that is based off what their best friends neighbors teachers hairdresser said that a low millage srt10 is bulletproof. Im no expert like VR1 i just stayed at a Holiday Inn last night..

It has the Mobil 1 one, what’s recommended I had it service the only time I had it cost me $130 to do it, and it was full, other than the TB, cold air and headers it’s completely stock, and the tailpipe was black, so I don’t think it was running lean at all! Again I’m assuming how it was ran before me

Black as a normal exhaust or an excessive amount of soot?

Do your forensics, you will see.......;)

I'd bet that the high crank case pressure situation compromised the engines ability to properly maintain oil flow. It only takes a few moments to initiate bearing damage. :(
The manufacturer's intentionally run engines rich to prevent the platinum cats from melting away. My engine stock ran 11:1 A/F at WOT... FAT.

How many miles on your truck?

Good Luck
