Good evening or morning depends on where you live I have this issue that im starting to notice everytime I drive to and back home from work so I want to try and pinpoint. My idle goes up a bit more than usual like I’m slightly stepping on gas pedal.Sometimes at a traffic light the motor will idle up and down but both needles on dash stay steady really weird it’s completely stock daily driver ran like a top until now any help would be great thanks In advance ..... Oh sorry it’s an 06 auto :dontknow:
What happens if you "blip" the throttle? Does the idle settle back down? Could be a sticking butterfly valve, could be a sticky IAC valve, could be a faulty TPS sensor... Are all those sensors OEM from the factory, or have they been replaced before?
I’ll check that out when I get home today as far as the whole pressing gas really I’ll try that on my way home today then check back in with any results on that
I’m going to clean the iac valve if that helps any I’ll buy brand new following day the butterfly valves move smoothly and can’t find any vac leaks none of the rubber hoses are crimped ... Obviously no codes by the way forgot to throw that in first time thanks again members for the help ...
If you can check for code do you have any live data? If so watch you iac counts and tps voltage but it sounds like the tps
Mine would do that before I changed my TPS. it would idle high all the time, then one night on the way to dinner with wife it switched from high idle to barely high enough to run(200-300 rpm max). tossed a TPS in and has been good since.
Check to black plastic hose to the cruise control. it crosses on the battery side of the engine and becomes brittle from the heat of the exhaust. the cruise won't work well and you would have a vacuum leak....
Thanks for the help people and suggestions just wanted to everyone know it was the tps indeed..Members rbabody and trussman were right on anyways I changed it out earlier tonight and it’s back to normal
Sorry Guys im back went to lunch and it threw a code for the tps can someone anyone tell me how to install properly the guy at counter said something about preloading it or what not I didn’t do that I just lined it up with my left hand while moving tb spring until it lined up then I inserted screws drove it around for a bit ran great I did notice howerver through out the acceleration range this morning there was a dead spot and also when I would come to a stop another dead spot
If you have access to a scan tool see what your voltage is at closed throttle . Should be .7 volts And then do a min tps reset ( And if you got an aftermarket sensor from a cheep parts store that could also be the problem. ) when you install it you should feel some tension on the sensor when you go to bolt it up the bolt hole will be off a bit
TPS likely. Reset your ecu by removing and touching your battery cables together as the bad info will still be retained even after you swap it out for a new one. Doing a reset will clear it's noggin.
