I have used 0W-40 (OEM recommended) in my built truck, for 12 years. Some owners go with a heavier weight to help quite the lifters down a bit. The engineers at Dodge know what's best for their motor. 
I use 10w-30 full synthetic and any NAME BRAND oil filter. Valve train might tick abit like a sewing machine but I have NO problems! personal preference...... the 04's were spec'd 10w-30 and the others were 0w-40. Some run thicker. Engine works harder with thicker.....

Bought mine at 15,400 miles so before that I do not know but from there to 152,000 I have used Mobile 1 15-50 exclusively. But---I do live in TEXAS and often drive in 105 temperatures so maybe a thinner oil up north will work. Tried Fram and Wicks filters and blew out both of them. I use Mopar 090 from Walmart and never had a problem.

I keep attempting to tell you guys, M1 15W50 is not the best choice for our engines. :dontknow:
It has hit #180 on the wear protection "list". The M1 FS 0W40 is #6 overall. That is in GOOD company and without any "additives"

Ma Mopar changed oil type back in 05,06. O 40 is now the recommended fill for all gen 3 engines.
5w 40 here in FL Shell Rotella T6 ( yep I know Diesel Synthetic) Was recommended by the engine builder, who am I to argue? Anyone it sounds wonderful and quiet...:rock::rock:
