Hey guys,
I've had an 04 SRT10 for a year now and the viper engine has become a slight bit of an obsession. Love the truck to dealth.
So I'm building a new drift car for next year and I have a deposit on a Gen 3 Viper / SRT10 engine for the car. The questions I can't seem to get any definitive answers on is wiring. The cost breaker is going to be if I have to go full standalone for 4-7k. Using the ram motor / harness and ecu what do I have to overcome in wiring. These trucks use a chipped key, am I going to need a ram dash harness to get the ecu to "unlock" and be able to start the motor, or can I run power and ground like any other 90s motor swaps to get this to run properly. I don't need or want any more power than the original 500. I've been getting a slew of mixed answers by everyone. Has anyone swapped these motors into another chassis who can help me out on this? Fabrication of mounting, drive shafts etc is simple, it's just the wiring questions that are holding me back.
