OK. fresh plugs and it will rev to 4200ish. Its still way down on power though it definitely is making more. I pulled the rear O2 sensor on the drivers side. Not the sound I expected. Instead of sounding like an exhaust leak it was more of a leaking air hose sound, I'm staying away from the hissing viper jokes for now. I'll do more loud stuff tomorrow during daylight hours.

Well today was a fiasco. Pulling the O2 sensor didn't help. I noticed the truck was back down to 3500 RPM and decided to pull the plugs again. The second plug on the drivers side (#3 in the firing order) was already starting to get dark. This is with less than 30 minutes of run time. The other 4 on the bank still looked new. I intended to do a leak down test but discovered my tester was busted. I do have a new one but will use it tomorrow. I think I will also pull the exhaust system and see if anything comes out of it. I'm also thinking of getting the injectors cleaned.

37 below zero here (Chilly). :turtle:

Anyway, did you ever check to make sure you don't have a pinched wiring harness near the back of the passenger cylinder head?

I did check the harness. Its in good condition. Did a leak down today. It was lower than I hoped but the engine was cold. They were consistent on all cylinders though. Had to turn the truck around in the garage so I replaced the one fouled plug and it ran OK but still not right. Hopefully I can get the exhaust off tomorrow.

So no CEL. Do you have access to something like a Snap On Scanner? My little POS code reader just reads / clears codes and turns off the light. But I'm pretty sure those higher level scanners can drill down much deeper into the PCM and will show parameters that are out of whack that won't throw the light for so many key cycles. I think the dealers use something called a DRB scanner and they monitor the truck running in real time. Seems like one side running rich is a big clue to something.

I use a Bluetooth dongle with the Torque app on my cellphone. Unfortunately I have to have the expensive one ($100+) to communicate with my JDM engine (gen4 3sgte) swapped MR2. The cheapies just wont communicate with that ECU. This dongle got wet in hurricane Harvey but worked for at least another year. Torque can show a lot of parameters but it varies from manufacturer and model of vehicle. The truck recently set a code as I didn't have one of the injectors plugged all of the way in (oops). After fixing it and running the truck a few times the CEL went away.

Turns out there was still some former front cat material in the drivers side pipe blocking the rear cat. After clearing it out the truck is running tremendously better now. It also stopped pushing oil out of the fill cap as well. Now to put some miles on it.

    Great to hear.
That would explain the dark plugs on one side, the crankcase pressure buildup and low power.
