Hey guys, a few months ago I plasti-dipped my truck with an ACR Viper theme. Just wanted to show off the results! Materials Used: Performance Series Plasti-dip from Dipyourcar.com -5 Gallons of Gunmetal Grey for base. -5 Gallons of Snow White for Color. -1.5 Gallons of Black for Stripe. -.5 Aerosols of Red for Stripe. -3 Gallons of Matte Topcoat for Stain Resistance. -6 Aerosols of Black for Wheels. Also did: -Windshield Banner -Venomous1 2/4 Lowering Kit -Tire Letters from Tirestickers.com Ended up at around $1100 in material for the dip in all doing it myself. Turned out pretty cool in my opinion. Let me know what you think & hit me up with questions about Plasti Dip.
Thanks! And yeah, I did it all myself. I've done my Coyote 3 times now, my bike twice & even did my Smartcar to look like a Little Tikes. Lol. It's a tedious process but overall relatively easy. It holds up pretty well. I've got a couple of spots I had to address after the fact but overall I love the stuff. Check out Dipyourcar.com's youtube channel for more info on doing it.
Amazing work man. I've been toying with the idea of a wrap since my silver is starting to show its age.
OMG! on a SRT-10! I mean no disrespect, but I seriously puked in my mouth a little. I can see a teenager trying something like that but not a grown man with a very expensive hard to find SRT-10. Each to his own, I knew another guy that ruined his SRT with a wrap and I thought that was a horrible idea and he eventually had to remove it due to trapped water particles causing it to rust out. After he removed it he then had to pay me to cut out patches of rust and mig-weld new metal patched in, fill then, primer, and then paint the whole truck basecoat/clearcoat the proper way to protect his investment. As a professional autobody & refinished tech of 35 years I simply ask you to show us pics of your truck say around the year 2024. I charge $60 per hour and $120 per hour if you worked on it first plus materials. The fact is my 2004 SRT 10 has the original paint except the tailgate which I shaved the handle and repainted with high quality Dupont. It still looks pretty good even though the paint is now 14 years old. Of course I take good care of my paint and use the best Gold Class Carnauba for the showroom finish. I can see the reflection every grey hair and every wrinkle in my face when waxing it just like looking in the mirror. lol. My advice to anyone else is "Don't bother with dipping". Dip your wrench never your car or truck, not even a KIA! Plastic can only last a few years, under the sun's UV rays and plastic stains easily and it don't come off. A real paint job last at least 10 years. No comparison, not even close. There's NO way it's going onto my SRT 10 as a finish paint job, hell not even my lawn mower for that matter. I know better, regardless how many stupid youtube videos I watch. Now I wonder what about your jambs? Did you ruin those too, or just you're outer panels? This story is so sad, I love Vipers so I feel a little tear building up. I am so sorry to see that done to your once expensive SRT-10. My condolences, as You're gonna have a mess on your hands soon enough, you'll see soon enough.
I think it looks great. I wouldn't be very concerned of the opinion of someone with 3 posts in a year total, all of which have been negative. I'm sure a "real" paint job lasts longer as it should for the cost of 10 times as much. A real paint job is also out of the skill set of most people while the dip is not.
