maybe you guys can help I have a black 04 single cab and need a new hood scoop i found some but they are ready paints. does any one know where I can find one for sale that is already painted the factory black?

An add-on hood scoop? Mine is an '05 and the scoop is integral to the hood. You need a complete hood? Are you modifying your hood?

no there are 4 plastic studs that hold the insert to the hood it's self. the wind ripped all 4 off and removed it forcefully from my hood.

I don't know if it is different for other years but the ram air scoop on mine is a separate component

I’m looking for the hood insert scoop also .. cheap plastic retainers broke and the thing flew off into the windshield yesterday .. seems the plastics retainer studs break all the time ..

Does anyone know or fabricated a replacement that’s not cheap plastic ? I don’t want to put the cheapo plastic factory one on it .. it will just end up breaking again .. damn factory replacements range from $274 to one I saw listed for over $400 .. stupid ridiculous price to pay for a piece of plastic that will break again ..

Pics of retrieved pieces and a 2 sided tape rubber floor mat jury rig to keep the rain out .. held up so far at 40 mph lol

You need a 3d printer

curious, keep me in this loop of progress lol
I’m with you on that ... need something good , sturdy enough to withstand the Florida elements and engine heat .. but most of all the big damn hole in the hood to keep the hurricane rains out of the engine compartment lol

The pick of yours look like the part is intact ... you could try grinding down the broken studs ,,, JB weld 4 nuts in there place and thread on studs to reconnect it .. worth a try ..
mines destroyed lol

well the studs went through the hood with metal nut like fasteners. the studs are gone and I am thinking about jb wield or epoxy

Give it a try .. nuts , studs and washers should hold up pretty good I think .. wish mine didn’t break into pieces or I would be doing that

Don’t forget to use some double sided tape, helps with the vibration. I used some 3M after I had my hood painted.

I just drilled through the two outer studs and installed a couple panel fasteners through the top as a temporary fix till I get the truck painted. It’s held it there for over a year and doesn’t look terrible. Lol

I bought some JB weld, I was going to do plastic bond epoxy but it had a lower temp rating of only 180°F I'll send updated pics when it's done. and I do have a roll of industrial double sided tape I never thought about using it... thanks!

Whoda thunk???? YIKES I never knew it was a separate piece. Good luck with the fix!
