Buying SRT 10 General Question

Hello guys,

I am a new member and Glad to be a part of this, I want to buy a 2006 SRT10. I test drove one yesterday, everything seemed great, however when i let go of the gas, the truck would pull left/right a bit. The owner assured me it was not a suspension problem, that all SRT10s did that because of the torque and RWD. That tipically owners install a sway bar in the rear to help with this. Can someone confirm if this is true? I dont want to purchase if it has suspension or frame damage. Thanks guys!!
 
The steering can feel a little odd compared to driving other vehicles. It can feel like it is "tracking" in a low spot in the road. Check the tire pressure first and then go from there. It is 13 years old. Get it up on a hoist and have a suspension shop or general shop have a look at it, as suggested.
 
I will definately take it to a shop guys prior to purchasing it. Thanks for the feedback.
 
One more question. Is the suspension the same as a regular 2006 Ram?

No it is not. Rear end has a flip kit, front suspension is lowered and has some different parts including brakes.

This guy is full of crap. RUN ! An SRT 10 has a rear sway bar stock. Mine always tracks perfectly, except of course when my right foot gets a bit heavy ;-)

Quad cab srt rams do not have a factory sway bar .. op didn’t specify which model he was looking at .. the only time my QC didn’t steer right was when it needed a front end alignment .. was actually pretty damn dangerous driving on uneven roads ..
 
It's sound like front end alignment problems...Steering or this truck was in a accident. Take it to good shop...Before you make a major mistake, buying this truck.

I have a 2005 srt10 and have never had this problem with steering or suspension issues. check tire pressure's
 
I have an 06 quad cab. 100k miles. I live in Tucson with rough roads. Have to get an alignment 2 or 3 times each year (bought lifetime alignment). I get that problem periodically too.
As I understand it, the 06 uses a heavier 2500 frame than the 04-05 which uses a 1500 frame. This was allegedly to help the truck deal better with the torque, but slows us down a little due to the extra weight.

I have a 2005 with 14000 miles on it and Ha e never experienced a problem like you are experiencing. I would have it checked out first. Put it on a lift and see if there is any noticeable damage. Good luck.
 
Is the truck on the registry or on here .. who’s selling it .. vtcoa member or other ? Post up the vin # and see if Jeff can help with its history !

Got to remember, these things have massive ass tires, if the streets have ruts it’s gonna wander and track all over the place, especially if the tires are a bit low on treads
 
In addition to ALL the good suggestions in this thread, be sure to inspect the rear leaf spring bushings. The rubber will rot and cause slop. If so, the springs will not be able to keep the rear axle perpendicular to the chassis. In my experience, there was TOO MUCH rear steer even in my low mileage RC. Poly bushings not only improved handling, they improved traction.
