So you've figured something out?
Yes, the sensors are un-powered and use a piezo crystal that needs amplification to turn on even a low-powered LED.

Just a bit of an update to this thread:
I've received all the parts for the knock sensor light project.
I'm just waiting to get my truck back from a transmission service to install everything and try it out.
I'll report back once that's done and the knock unit is installed.

The tranny looks great but
I decided to have my High-Stall convertor cut open and freshened up as it's been spinning around for 10 years or more and I wanted to have a peek at the lockup clutches (x3), and a general look around.
When I get it back, the truck will be mobile again so I'll install the knock sensor light kit and provide a full report.
10 more days or so, I'm hoping.
