Finally happened to me, the Malfunction Light Indicator has come on in my 2005 QC with 45000 miles. Nothing seems to be wrong with anything related to drive train so I'm assuming this is an emission control problem.
Hoping someone who has experienced a similar problem might be able to point me in the right direction as to what could be causing the warning light.
Thanks in advance for anyone's help. Buddy in Texas

What code ? Turn the key 1,2,3 and leave in the on position on the third turn .... the codes will show on the dash left side .. that will give you the area of the problem ..

Do you have a SCT tuner ?... no cost on the key turn code reading , built in freebie on most of not all cars for years ...

Hmmmmm ,, seen those before ,, several kinds out there .. have you tried one on the 10s ... not real sure if they are compatible or not ... but I was always curious about them !

Yes, they are compatible. OBDII, you can pic your monitored systems. I utilized engine temp, INTAKE temp and vacuum. It was nice to know anytime my intake temp was over 104* (That is when the ECU pulls timing). I was also logging vacuum for an eventual Water/meth "mist" shot to super cool the intake here in AZ in the summer or when heat soak set in. ;)

Cheers!

Well, the code I get is P1494, “Leak Detection Pump SW or Mechanical Fault”.
You guys that have had the same Code, where did you find the problem actually turned out to be located? Thanks!

I have that same code . Seems to be common. I tried a new gas cap ,, didn’t work . It is emission control crap .. goes from the front back to the tank ,, hoses , pumps have a gas vapor leak .... doesn’t seem to affect anything except kicking on the dash light ..
if you want or have to fix it for emissions inspections ... start at eh front and look for broken vacuum hoses .. there is a test they call the smoke test you can do .. never did it myself .. but it’s putting smoke into the system and seeing if it leaks ..
I did search the hoses and found non were broken or disconnected.. I’m guessing mine is the leak detection pump itself ...

Each time the vid ... will give you the idea of how things are set up and possibly some cheap testing .. the vid is not a dodge but systems are similar ..

Check and try this first ...

This vid is of a dodge .. better idea of the location of the detection pump under the hood

Smoke testing evap

Dig the vid lol. Evap explained ..

Thanks for the info gentlemen, I have a hunch I'll probably find a leaky hose to the box that is mounted to the underside of the middle of the frame.
Might be awhile til I get under there though, hard to get down and then back up with my 72 year-old knees...lol

Had the same code for a couple of years. Would come and go. Finally replaced the LDP and problem solved. Took all of 5 minutes to do. I don’t recall it being very expensive either. I just remember thinking that I should have done it sooner as the light aggravated me.

So your problem was the Leak Detection Pump itself and not one of the Hoses leaking?
Can you tell me where you bought your Replacement or do you know if the LDP for the SRT-10s is the same for all the 2005 Ram 1500 series trucks? Thanks!

Replacing the pump solved the Cel. I believe I purchased from mopar parts giant.
