Joined this forum as I will need references and venders to purchase parts
for the 2005 Quad Cab that I am taking delivery of on Thursday.
It is a project in the making.
1st Item is have the front seats recovered as stock.
2nd is Transmission Upgrade with converter
note: Engine will be normally aspirated , however I may install new short block
and have heads CNC ported and all new components.
Therefore member's recommended input would be appreciated.
In turn , I will post results and any upgrades that are performed.

The transmission upgrade for me, took quite a while. For such a primitive unit (compared to what is out there now), they can be a problem to get right. At the very least, replace the cast drum with an aluminum unit, go with the GM Solenoid kit (to resist problems due to particulates) and get a good convertor in the 2600-2800 stall range with good lock-up clutches like Kevlar. I have a guy in my neck of the woods that knows how to make them live. Source out people in your area (maybe on this forum) that have had good results with their own transmission rebuilders.
You indicated a new short block. Do you have an engine? If you do and it isn't damaged, I'd suggest you rebuild what you have and install more rugged parts (like forged pistons and good rods). IF you buy a short block, you will waste money on Pistons, Rings and Rods you won't use.
Your heads: You mentioned CNC-ported. That would suggest you know someone that has a CNC program (that works) specifically for these heads that will provide more power. CNC in itself won't figure out what's best for the cylinder head; it is just

Control which gets its cutting/shaping information from software. It's dumb and simply does what it is told.
The MYTH about the more flow a cylinder head has, the more power it will produce is just that, a myth.
Do your research here as there is a ton of misinformation out there. A performance cylinder head (yours) can be improved with a little work but getting large increases of flow on a flow bench
ARE NO GUARANTEE THE ENGINE WILL PRODUCE MORE POWER because of the increases. Head porters that tell you more flow=more power are mistaken. That statement is true only up to a point. Flow beyond that point is useless and will produce ZERO in the way of more power (which is what you should expect when paying to have your heads ported).
Cylinder heads are WHERE the power is produced, so do your homework in this area.
It's tough to PROVE the ported heads themselves produced more power when often many things are changed all at the same time. It's pretty safe to assume that you WILL get a power increase with more compression, a larg(er) solid roller cam, intake work and a good racing exhaust system but how much did the heads' themselves contribute. That's where the waters become muddied.
