Has anyone been able to add/fit a full size 22” spare under our trucks? I might need to get underneath and see what can I do to make one fit.
Should not be a problem, the 20" spare is of a size/aspect that is the same diameter as the 22" ones on the truck.
I checked it out a little bit and as of now the lock(don’t know the name of it) that goes in the center cap hole doesn’t fit the 22” rim. The factory 20” spare has a bigger center hole than the 22” rims. When I lowered my spare to remove/check, I unhooked it and tired to hook my 22” but unable to due to the center hole being too small. I will keep you guys posted.
I just finished up, worked out fine. Nothing my angle grinder couldn’t handle. Now I just need to figure out a way the hook won’t scratch my rim. I’m thinking about maybe a spring isolator bushing to go between the hook and the rim. Here are some pictures.
Get yourself a 1/4 thick rubber sheet, cut it to shape, and epoxy it on to the hook so it doesn’t move. You can double it up for extra protection applying epoxy between the sheets for a a half inch of cushion. https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn...MIlfrZ-tf85QIVxB-tBh1ndgzgEAQYASABEgKdqvD_BwE
Speaking of rims, my previous owners decided to trash three of my four rims. They have been welded, and are warped. Do you or anyone have any idea where I can get replacements?
They’re pretty expensive. Check on the forums, Craigslist, or offer up. Ebay might be a little to expensive. I’ve been pretty lucky, I’ve found a full set of 4 a couple of years back for $500. They did have some curb rashes but the were originals not replicas. And I also bought just 1 original rim for $60, you just have to be on the look out.
Thanks for the info. I saw a place that reconditions them, but are asking $700 each. Too much for me. I'll hit up X2 Builders to see what they have.
