Has anyone come up with a decent clean looking coil re-location setup . I find it absolutely rediculous to have to remove the intake manifold to replace the coils or the plug wires ... Not to mention the heat they get from the factory location ...
 
I’m interested in the tread also. I have plans for my truck coming up soon and I would hate to take off my intake manifold every so often. This is an LS, but maybe something like this. Or maybe both coils on the passenger side firewall.

That isn’t bad looking .. my thought was locate them on the valve cover .. I seem to remember seeing a viper , I think it was a gen 4 that had the coils setup on the valve cover . Haven’t been able to verify if it was factory or some aftermarket set up . I might have been confused that day also ,, anything’s possible .
 
Haven’t found a pic yet ... but it’s the gen 5 ..

I’m guessing bit this might be the pic ... coils under the valve covers ,,, gen 5.... of so wonder if they can be used on the gen 3

Most likely not. Gen V is coil per cylinder, Gen III uses a wasted spark setup where one "coil" serves 2 cylinders. You would have to use a different [ 3rd party probably ] PCM to make that work.

Gen 5 Would be a nice set up though ...
