Project Cottonmouth

I'm not getting any coolant flow through the radiator. At first I thought my new thermostat was not opening, so I removed it and boiled it on the stove, and it worked just fine. Then I put the thermostat housing back on (no thermostat) and ran the truck, I didn't see any coolant movement in the rad, so I thought it was the water pump. I pulled the water pump and it was like brand new (probably the original) couldn't find anything wrong with it. So now I have no idea what it could be. Possibly some kind of blockage? Possibly an air pocket (should still see water moving). The rad is brand new, hoses are new. If anybody has any suggestions, I would love to hear them...:(:mad:o_O

If you changed or deleted any accessories which changed the belt orientation could the pump be turning backwards?

Thanks, but nothing has changed. I even downloaded the belt diagram just to make sure I put it on right.

Did you bleed the system at the thermostat housing? That's a problem I had when my radiator was replaced. I couldn't get the bleeder valve opened due to age, so I did the bleed by squeezing the upper hose, putting my hand over the radiator cap opening, and releasing the hose. Spent about 10 minutes doing that, it finally drew the antifreeze from the overflow jug, into the system. Didn't have any issues after that. Could there be a blockage in the new radiator? Ronnie might be of some help.

Take the hoses off
Jam the garden hose in there and turn it on, see if the water goes through the radiator.
Then do the same with engine.
Then with engine and radiator full take top hose off and start her up. WOOSH! yes you get wet.
Great piece of mind tho
Actually you could do the last step first

Thanks guy's I have been tied up on a house project that I promised the wife. I really thing the new (Stant) thermostat that I installed is not working properly. I bought a Motorad just in case and it seams to open more than the Stant ( I boiled both in the house ). Hopefully be back on it in another week or so...
