Gring=grind.
Well, I've got to get cash flow going again, my company had us shut down for the holidays. If you still have the cam for sale at the end of the month, or beginning of Feb, I'll buy it.Gring=grind.
I have no idea, but will look. What's the difference in color? 6speedquadcab has a set of pushrods for sale. Would these work? I'm leaning on buying the cam, so if you don't mind, recommend brand name and P/N for everything I'd need. I'm savvy with basic engine rebuild, but when it comes to performance upgrades, I'm clueless. PM is cool if you want. What color are your head gaskets??
(look along the bottom edge of either head).
The latest cam gring is slightly more aggressive to work with the boost in compression (11:1).
Not sure what the head gasket color means, I'll have to look. 6Speed is selling pushrods, would those be good for what im looking for? Forgive my ignorance, I understand basic engine rebuild, but not performance. As for springs, rockers, gaskets, timing chain and gears, what brands do you recommend. I'm looking at B&B long tube 3" headers, with straight pipes. I want the torque, not the hp at top end. From what you mentioned, the cam is all about torque. There will be no nitros set up, just raw power. Yes, I'm interested in idle lope, and no, emissions is not a problem in my state. No cats, and just resonators for the exhaust.Hello AMS3-
I have no idea what your performance plan is.
MANY questions I'd be asking prior to even attempting to provide you with a parts list. Some of which are:
How many miles are on your truck?,
What kind of maintenance has it had?
Any prior mods?
Has the engine been apart and if so how many times? For example, after 3 pulls, the head bolts should ALL be replaced. If this is the first time (black head gaskets), your head bolts should still be good to re-use.
Does it have good leak-down numbers? In other words, is it ready for an increase in power or are you dealing with something that needs rings soon, a valve job, valve seals, etc? This IS something I would do if the vehicle was here.
Are your plug wires still in good shape? NOW would be the time to change them if they are old.
Does it need a new timing chain set?
Are you even thinking about porting the heads? (NOW would be the time).
What kind of power increases are you expecting?
Any thoughts to forced induction down the road?
What about nitrous, if so, cam choice and ring end-gaps become very important.
What kind of budget do you have?
What kind of exhaust system do you have?
Is idle quality a concern?
Are emissions a concern in your locale?
There are even more questions that I don't expect answers to, but to do it properly, should be considered.
At the very least, you will need head gaskets from a dealer, oil (for an oil change) and coolant.
The pushrods for sale should be fine, contact the seller for more info.
I would definitely get a tune from your Tuner of choice.
Torrie has a good rep on here and is likely the go-to Tuner for these trucks.
Chris Jensen is notoriously hard to get in touch with.
Either of these guys can provide you with a tune for what (I think) your plan is.
Not trying to be a buzz-kill but I don't like anyone to walk into this stuff, uninformed.

OLDCOLT: I can't see your head gaskets because your hood is shut.
