Anyone watch Powernation TV? One of the shows, Truck Tech, is doing a comparo shoot out build on a 2005 SRT10 QC and an 2015 F150 Eco Boost.

Should be fun. What impresses me is to go out and get a true performance muscle truck they had to go back 15 years in time to our trucks.
Because they are IT!
I doubt any factory will make a short run anymore it is financially bad. Just let the aftermarket powerhouses do it.
Yeah you can buy others that are faster like a Shelby F150 with 750hp but it is not a standard factory production truck
Then you would have to compare that to a SRT10 Hennesey twin turbo 800hp

If every dime of that 15K budget was spent on nothing but power increases on each vehicle, the F-150 has a much greater chance of survival/winning a 1/4 mile shootout than the QC.

Sad but true.

Start off with a turbo engine there is a definite advantage

BOTH of my brand new F-150s 4X4s had garbage electrical systems but mechanically seemed quite durable.
And then there was the bad timing chains, and turbo-modules, and electric steering and power windows and rear window defrost and..

But dial up the boost/fuel through tuning, give them some air to breathe and they do what any good turbo engine does.

The SRT QC 48RE will commit suicide once the power starts to climb (even a little).
There was a VERY good reason why the trannies were protected by "Torque Management" on the new trucks.

The BEST bang for the buck on the QCs is a good tune and chops a Full second off the E.T.

After adding nearly 150 wheel with heads and a mild cam, my 48RE shit the bed somewhere between morning coffee and lunch time.

With power adders (Nitrous, for example) BOTH the 48RE and the o.e.m. pistons (even with a tight-tune) won't last long.

Unfortunately, you VERY rarely get the full story on the "shoot-outs".

Still interesting/fun though, unless they are heavily biased which is often obvious.

I don't give a rats @#$ about the Fords, Chevys and the rest wannabes, the 10 is alot of fun to drive. Just smoked a brand new Dodge 1500 it was a mismatch. Will never do it again. Quick trip to the slammer lol!!!

Oh, terrible, you hoon. Unbelievable, such bad behaviour. GO FOR IT!! We ain't dead yet hahaha

How do we get on against Shelby F150's. I know 2 people here with them 1 4x4 1 not. 750hp That's sledgehammer

(2) Flavours for the Shelby F-150- 395 and 700 HP
I've seen them here as well.
I really thought it was a Tundra (from the side).
Oooops!

I know.
I'd love the opportunity to race one.
I can't race anything as I can't get it out of 1st or 2nd gear when racing. I had this once before on my old race car it was torque twisting the gearbox. I think it maybe the clutch tho.
As long as I am not racing it it is fine also 3rd 4th 5th are fine under WOT

This was at our work the other day
Converted to Right Hand Drive by Eagle Automotive
Pretty fancy suspenders, may not be standard
A trucking contractor ( small) he still gets out on the road sometimes

The new ones are $130,000 here.
Wow so by the time you buy one ship it to NZ pay 30 to 40k to have it converted that approx $250k
Bugger that I could have 5 SRT 10's lol or one 1800hp twin turbo monster hahaha

Personally, I know very few people that would drop that kind of money on a nice nice truck then pound on it off-roading
(750+ horsepower or not).

It does not look like it was designed (at all) like a super-truck street handler.

Limited production and limited capabilities, for sure.

Something to sit in a collection, I guess.
