Joined this forum because I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for on regular truck forums, and hoping you guys can help in the rear suspension department (as I believe it’s the same with normal and SRT QC trucks). So here’s what I’ve got:

2008 ram 1500 QC 4wd
4.7L v8
6spd manual
360k miles (owned since new)
SSBC 4-pot front brakes
Bilstein Yellow front struts
Fox 2.0 rear shocks
2” rear drop shackles
Hellwig rear sway bar
Truetrac rear posi
Centerline 20’s with 305/50 all-terrains
And a bunch of other stuff that has no real effect on performance (hurst short shift, y pipe & exhaust, etc). Oh but it does have well-worn Ram SRT10 brake and clutch pedal pads!

Use has always been a farm/work truck that also gets driven like a race car whenever possible. Goal is to make it handle better and more driftable, without giving up too much capability. Hope to learn from you all!

Appreciate it...saw you responded to my suspension thread in performance section, so will follow up there.

Welcome to the VTCOA I do not think the rear ends of the 10's are the same as your regular 1500. The 10's are built on a 2500 chassis but they still show up as 1500 i might be wrong, but pretty sure the trannys and Differentials are not the same whether it is a 5.7 hemi or your 4.7.

04-05 Ram srt10s 1500 chassis, 06 Ram srt10s 2500 chassis. Ram srt10s depending on RC or QC the 2 transmissions are the T56 or 48re. Rams have the 545rfe transmissions for the autos(don’t know the manual, but I’m pretty sure it’s not the t56). Ram Srt10’s differential is the Dana 60 diff and the regular Rams is the Corporate 9.25 diff.

My 6spd is a Getrag 238...don’t believe it was used in any application other than 3.7 & 4.7L rams (and Jeep Hemi/6spd conversions).

The rear axle is certainly different as mine is a 9.25 with DTT, but leaf springs are identical between SRT QC and non-SRT trucks. Perhaps there are other differences (spring perch, etc) that allow the same leaves to be mounted to a 9.25 and Dana 60.

Thanks for the welcome...would likely own an SRT if it could be run on 87 octane (work truck running on work fuel)

Leaf springs should mount up. I would give Cal tracs a call and see if they would mount up on your differential. They would definitely help out. Gas prices are down now, just get one and get a tune. It isn’t that bad, compared to the Hemi rams.

Caltracs has spring-over and spring-under setups for my truck.

I’ve definitely tried to justify an SRT multiple times. Problem is I drive 3-4K miles per month for work and fill up at our shop, which only has 87 octane and diesel. If I were to get a vehicle requiring premium, I’d have to pay for my own gas for work. Otherwise I’d be all over that QC 6spd in the for sale section.

Yes, Cal Tracs has both set ups. True, I know what you mean. You could always get one for the weekends?

Would love to, but my current weekend cars (cts vagon & 635csi) are barely getting any use. Here’s the old beast I spend much of my time in...
