2004 six speed model had to replace starter relay switch paid dealer to that didn’t know for sure what the problem was this was a couple of years ago. Truck would start as normal when cold but after driving it start/stop would not start no contact nothing but I would keep trying to start and it finally would. Now it’s doing that again. Truck is driven very little sits for months sometimes with battery tender on it. Battery is good no corrosion. Truck is kept out of weather with cover like new. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

I am glad I have not had that problem that would drive me nuts.
I would look at the starter solenoid. Sometimes they need a clean up and contacts not being made to engage starter.
Only other likely thing is the wire that powers the solenoid. Sometimes they get cooked and then corrode, usually a spade terminal clean.
    Some ideas that may help.
All the best with finding your problems

Cool. Each vehicle has it's own list of common issues. Some are longer than others. LOL Personally I reckon these are pretty darn good. My truck can be parked for a month at a time so I am aware that silly little issues will arise from time to time. I have a solar panel hooked up to my battery. Which looks like the original Feb 3 on installation date, could be for 2013. Still been a good battery then.

Yeah I stay pretty busy and just don’t get the time to drive either of my hot rods. They sit for months sometimes without starting either one, don’t drive’em when weather is bad. I would have given my two front teeth to have had them years ago but then again they didn’t exist! Mechanical things need exercising just like humans.

We have a damp salty climate here so any contacts or things that don't used often need attention. I am packing to move to a new place, but I may be tempted to take the truck out for a drive....just cause I can lol. I think it is called having a break....then back to work tomorrow. Sun is shining 9C this morning ...about as cold as it gets at our place. The new place is a lot further south and more inland....-5C this morning. Eek! But it is drier and away from the sea. Better for truck.

Hey Kiwi what kind of exhaust you running? I just noticed you have exits on both sides. Cool!

Was custom made by a Hot Rod guy in Wellington with an exhaust shop. I love it. No cats. If I get bored I may in the distant future look at re-routing it to get rid of the sharp bend after the headers. At the moment I am too busy grinning to worry about whatever losses maybe happening there.

The only thing that I would even consider a negative on my truck is the sound and it’s really not a negative just different. I have headers with hi-flow cats and Billy Boat exhaust. I think my heavily modified Challenger with long tubes, no cats with Corsa six-speed (I have the auto nag-1) extreme Exhaust system has ruined me forever when it comes to exhaust sound.

Yeah the V10 is it's own sound. I raced an old straight 6 years ago and it sounds more like that until the revs go up and then you know that it's different and very special. A V10 at 6000rpm is great, especially with the cut outs open

Yep, when I bought mine last year, I was surprised by the sound. I was used to my 2005 QC 5.7 with Kooks long tube headers, no cats, and Magnaflow Racing mufflers. It growled, and was loud as hell when I stomped on the gas. The Viper engine has it's own unique sound for sure. Hopefully in a month or so, I'm going to install Billy Boat longtubes, no cats, Kamikaze mufflers, electric cutouts and 4.5" tips. Spent a few months on Youtube looking for the best sound, and the Kamikaze mufflers sound the best IMO. They are made by Wicked Flow.

Because a plug fires every 72 degrees instead of 90 (like a V-8), the V-10 sounds "different" so you will be working with that. Kiwi said they are similar to a V-6 sound and that's a big 10-4!

If you like volume/noise there are several ways to accomplish that.

If you want (or don't want) popping on deceleration, droning/no droning on the highway, cats and/or mufflers come into play.

The factory exhaust manifolds on the trucks are pretty good (better than the Viper car) and headers don't offer much in the way of a power gain; even with cylinder head, compression and camshaft mods.

Headers price per horsepower equation is high.

If you favor torque in a usable rpm range (good idea in a porky truck), keep the header tubes on the smaller side.

    Have fun.

Me think it has a solenoid problem. You can pick up a good starter from Scott at X2 builders or Cleveland Pick Apart junkyard.

X2 builders are a Viper Ram bone yard but I have also seen new oem starters on ebay.

Or the sound of a mighty slant six with a 4bbl (scat-pack).

I must say my favorite was the sound of my 1971 426 Hemi at 6500 rpm. It was musical and orgasmic!
That wailing sound of surprised air being sucked into 2 4bbl 570 cfm Carter carbs could be heard for blocks!

Although not on an SRT-10, I've had my fair share of starters that acted up once they picked up some engine heat.
