I went to purchase a 2006 QC with supposedly only 33k miles today however a number of red flags turned me off. Perhaps these are normal or the truck simply sat outside in the weather? Truck went from CA to FL to NM to IL over the years, been through a few auctions.

Oil / ps lines actually looked clean and dry.

-on the hood right above the grille the paint was very faded with many spider cracks. Similar on the rear bumper that faced up towards the sun.

-every door gasket was dry rotted and split.

-headlights yellowed, door handles faded gray. I've had a handful of same generation WJ Jeeps over the years and even they were never as bad compared to these.

-rear main seals a common issue? Front bottom of the bell housing showing an oil leak, not transmission fluid.

-why would the dealer remove the standard srt bed cover and replace with linex? Trying to hide something? In the four months they have had it they never even put the hard top tannou back on and it's missing the wing!

-were electric running boards standard? I never seem to recall them in any overview or review.

I hope to find a clean crystal black or gray 2006 QC soon!

I made the mistake of buying mine, without shopping around. After I bought it, I did a carfax and found out it had been wrecked. The bed is not the original, so I suggest doing a carfax before you make the purchase. It'll save you some cash and heartache.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

I did run the carfax and autocheck reports, both come back with 0 accidents. I have heard rumors certain states such as FL do not always report accidents to carfax etc... just not sure if that's true or not. That is one thing that scares me on this truck, it's been from state to state, auction to auction.

Running boards weren't a factory installed item nor on the Option Sheet and would be horrible for airflow at high speeds anyway.

Rear main seals on the Viper engines aren't any better or worse than those on other engines.

Oil lines will look bare and dry if they've been recently steam-cleaned. :) They aren't a high ticket item to replace anyway.

I don't know what your budget is, nor what they want for this truck but it sounds like a lot of time and money to rehab (so far) and you never know what mechanical horrors might be between the headlights and taillights.

For example, my '05 QC has NONE of the wear and tear items you've found already on this particular truck.

I'd keep looking, Bud.

Walk away. There have been some mean trucks come through here for sale that have had all the care and attention, upgrades etc. Better to wait, maybe even pay a bit more, but remember this
"The quality remains long after the price is forgotten"

I'm leaning towards walking away. I do restore cars (1993-1995 Mazda RX7's) so I am not so much worried about mechanical issues. The truck being a 2006, with low miles, and the crystal black paint, is what draws be towards it. I did forget to check if it has the factory subwoofer as well. Engine looked all stock. All factory mopar glass so I do not believe it had a side impact.

I don't understand this Acura dealership. They bought it from an auction 4 months ago, took the hard tonneau cover off to detail the exterior, yet 4 months go by and its still not detailed or the cover/wing back on it? Oh and they are still trying to locate the wing?!

They called again this morning asking for me to give a price that I'd be comfortable with. I think every time they call I'll just keep going lower in my offer.

Hmmm you would have to price all the remedies required to make it right and figure whether it is worth it or not. Does sound like an outdoor truck. Just be thorough. Paint, rubbers, lights, make sure you know what you are going to pay. It maybe still a better truck when finished as you know what it has had done. Low mileage is good and standard also can be good.
Depends how much they are asking for it.
You need an exhaust like mine hahaha
