Just seeing if anyone suspects I might have a battery that is going bad or I just need a bigger battery.

Cold start, the engine fires right up when pushing the button. Drive it for 10 minutes to the gas station, pump gas, and hit the button and you feel the starter hesitates for 3-5 seconds before it fires up. It fires up but it's like saying....I don't have enough juice...wait..maybe I do...ok I do...so I'll fire up. On the Hot start it makes you feel like it's not going to start but it does after 3-5 seconds of holding the button.

    Battery Specs:

    12 Volt Heavy Duty
    Deep Cycle Battery
    5.25” D x 7.625” W x 6.875” H
    Weight: 24 lbs.
    700 amps CCA @ 20 second rate
    36 Reserve Capacity Minutes
    Peak Discharge Amps: 1200 @ 15 seconds

Hello have you checked your solenoid on the starter or the connections to it? I had the same problem but ended up being the terminal connector and a bad battery. Went to Dodge dealership and got another battery problem solved.

On the battery i found the Mopar battery was cheaper than the one at autozone, Oreilly and Advanced with a 3 year warranty no proration.

I have not. As I have mentioned, with a cold start it fires right up. I suppose the solenoid could be getting hot when it's been run for a while. Just curious of what others might have to say about it. I'm thinking it needs more battery but I could be wrong.

You might also need to check the wires going to the starter. The culprit may likely is the starter or a bad battery. X2 builders can help you with the starter OR you can have it rebuilt at a local shop in your area. Have the battery checked first. I hope this helps. I kind had the same issue with my 10 but it ended up being the battery and one of the battery connectors.

    Thank you.

Since you have been kind of enough to reply to my question, do you know the answer to this?

For an 06 QC these trucks came standard with 3 radiators?

    1) Engine Coolant Radiator
    2) A/C Condensor
    3) Transmission Fluid Radiator

This is the first time I actually paid attention to the front of the truck and all the radiators.

It has your regular radiator, the AC condensor for your refrigerant, Power steering radiator if you want to call it that and finally the tranny cooler.

You can also double check with Rotten Ronnie about your starter situation he knows a whale lot about these trucks.

So there are actually 4 radiators? I'm guessing the Power Steering Radiator is a smaller radiator. Where is that one located? The other three are grouped together center front of the truck and are all quite large in size.

I pulled the battery out and stuck it in a different truck that has the battery relocated in the bed. Cold or Hot the truck fired right up every time. That makes me think the battery is just fine.

As mentioned, the truck fires right up when Cold but will hesitate when Hot. Sounds like I need to look for a starter or have mine rebuilt. Good Grief. I've only put 6K miles on the truck in 10 years of ownership. I would think a starter would last longer than that.

Yep, my radiator has a split down the side, and unfortunately it's my only vehicle. Got a new one ordered, will have it installed on Friday. No hot dogging it til then, from home to work, etc. Luckily, I'm only 5 miles from work, so in the morning, she doesn't get up to temp. Going home is a different story, with afternoon traffic, and this damn heat. Got me an extra jug of fluid, incase the worst happens. Seems when I had my SLT 1500, I had to replace the radiator around 90K, so I guess it's that time with my SRT. Only have 77K though.

I would bet starter...but when I was a kid and had a camaro I put headers on it and it would make the starter so hot it would crank hard. I had to wrap the starter in a heat sleeve.

Different motors cooling the V10 dictates a bigger radiator and fan to move the heat compared to the 5.7L in the SLT. Hopefully the new radiator does its job.

Just had my battery checked out as it is 7 years old Odyssey Extreme PC1500 Checks out fine still cranks 800cca
How good is that. I have it on a solar trickle charger. Previous owner thought battery was dodgy as it would go flat sitting in garage after a month.

Yep, good to go. I wanted to buy the performance radiator, but it's almost $1300. Went back with stock, so I should be good for the rest of the truck's life. I have a 170° stat installed a little while back, but I need Torrie to do a tune to have the fan come on at 170. Right now it still runs at stock temp. Waiting on the tune until I get the headers and exhaust done. Covid has crimped my style, my company cut out all overtime. That's my play money for the truck. Hopefully this manufactured crisis will be over after the election.
