Good afternoon, just acquired Tony's TB from a user on here. Thing is new, I do see instructions that came with it. Just a tad confusing, I consider myself a decent wrench head but with the last couple run ins on this motor, I'd take advice prior to anything (spark plugs driver side made me a believer).

Anyone who has it, any advice as to installing it? Looking to complete this weekend

Thank you!!

Is it fully assembled, or do you have to install your TB blades in it? If it's ready to go, it only takes a few minutes, just make sure you install the TPS correctly.

Like OldColt said, if it’s plug and play it should only be the 4 bolts from the intake manifold and the 2 that hold the tps sensor. If not you have to disassemble your stock one and remove the blades to get to center shaft. Then remove the shaft, install the shaft and new blades one the new one along with the tps sensor. Re install the 4 bolts, connect the tps sensor and You should be good.

Not assembled, have to take apart the stock one

Any special things to watch out for?

When putting back on the TPS ensure its not reversed on the throttle shaft.. this will peg the throttle open when you first start it up... ask how i know.

Good morning Gil.
Hopefully your new TB is for an automatic transmission (has the proper bracket).
There is a small rubber line that comes off the intake behind the TB that points straight down. Make sure that is connected before the new TB goes on. Also check the condition of the gasket between the TB and mouth of the intake manifold.
Work the throttle a few times prior to fire up to make sure operation is free, without binding).
Easy job.
As you look in horror at the oily shellac inside the throttle body and intake, you may want to consider a catch can to prevent that. If you have a catch can disregard.

Have fun

Would you have a photo of the TPS for reference?

Hello Ronnie! I didn't think the TB's would be different. I purchased this TB from a user that had a manual, hopefully its proper.
I had changed the TB gasket about a month ago while changing valve cover gaskets. I have yet to install a catch can, any suggestions?

Hi Gil:

Maybe they all come setup for the kickdown cable; I don't know any thing about the one you have.
Have a look at yours and see if the linkage setup looks exactly the same as the one on your truck. If it does, you are good to go.

I like the catch cans that are completely sealed; in other words they don't have a little air filter on top.
You kind of get what you pay for with catch cans.

I was the beta tester for RX Monster catch cans on the SRT-10 but I don't know if these are still sold.

It does look the same, should be a solid fit
I have one that I bought many years back, its sealed. Will give that a go, just need to find a place for it around the engine bay

Alright, so I've hit a bit of a bump. Removing TB was a cake job but the blades a different story. I started to loosen the screws and the head broke off. Any suggestions on removing the broken bolt?

How well do you know your dentist?
You may have to buy him a bit or 2 but they aren't expensive.
It needs to be carefully drilled out.
