Have an itch for a '71 Mopar...a Challenger, 'Cuda, Road Runner, Duster or GTX perhaps, but came across this beauty and the price is pretty fair considering the high prices for nice classic muscle cars these days..this is a '71 Super Bee with the 440-six pack and three speed auto.

VERY similar to my 1971 Charger R/T I had back in 1973.
    Cool.

    1971 Dodge Super Bee

The Super Bee switched over to the Charger platform for 1971 but still represented a low-cost, high performance package vs the Charger R/T. Priced at around $3,271, the Dodge Charger Super Bee included a 383 CID Magnum V8 with a single four barrel carb rated at 300 bhp (down 35 bhp from the year before due to detuning), and a three speed floor shift, power bulge hood (black finished), tape stripes, Bee decals, and a Charger 500 interior, except with a standard bench seat. The Super Bee also came with a heavy duty suspension, big fat F70-14 tires, and a long list of optional equipment. Still optional (for the last year) was the 440 Six Pack and the mighty 426 Hemi, rated at 385 bhp (down 5 bhp) and 425 bhp respectively. Only 22 Hemi's were built, nine with four speeds, and 13 with the Torque Flite.

Total production was only 5,054. The Super Bee model wasn't brought back until 2007 with the Charger SRT-8.

Yes, my 1971 Charger R/T (426) was cleverly rated at 425 hp which was actually a rating taken at approx 4800 rpm even though they could buzz to 6500 with properly adjusted hydraulic lifters. Advertising and Insurance games being played.
The could actually make their advertised 425 horsepower with one plug wire pulled.
Mine was one of 17 built with a column mounted auto shifter.
Front heavy overpowered car with rear drum brakes and small belted tires.
Lots of fun but I had to pay strict attention or I wouldn't be here writing this.

All I can think of is the story of you and your dad passing the fuel truck!
