We just had the biggest/most prolonged rain shower since the time I purchased the truck, and I noticed that my drivers side back seat was soaked when I went out to the truck.

But the strange thing is that I cannot seem to located where any possible leak in the roof could be originating from because:

-The leak is one small leak directly above the drivers side rear seat, centered directly over the head rest
-The leak is right in between the rear window and the headliner. Where the window doesn’t get wet and nor does the headliner. So it’s right in between the them.
-It’s a constant drip, not pouring in, even though it is pouring out
-There’s no water anywhere else, not in the door jamb, or anywhere else I can locate.
-There doesn’t seem to be any opening right above this area on the roof, the closest thing is the rubber trim that is on the roof closer to the door. This is my best guess since I can’t see how any water could get from the 3rd brake light or anywhere else, and yet only drip in this one area? I don’t even know if there’s any way for it to leak if that rubber strip would be removed (mine is still there)?

Any ideas on how to track down would be amazing, thanks guys!

Normally, the water does find it's way past the seal on the 3rd Brake Light over time.
Replace the Gasket and/or use some Silicone Sealant on both sides of the Gasket itself.

Try pouring Vinegar (doesn't have to be full -strength) over the Third Brake Light then sniff-test the spot where it is getting wet inside the cab.

That will help track it down.

It may also give you an appetite.

Mine leaked through the sharkfin aerial. Got it re-sealed at the panel shop

My 2005 QC didn't come with a Sharkfin aerial.
That means I got ripped off and I want my money back.
Maybe yours is not a shark, being a QC maybe it is a whale hahaha.
Maybe they discontinued after 04. Mine has wrong bump stops in front suspension too. Only made for 17" wheels. Which is a real pain. I am grinding away the top of the inner guards/fenders

The "Whale" just trashed some poor guy in a new TRX.

He wanted to know how much Nitrous I was using? (None) Because it doesn't have a Nitrous Setup.
How much boost on the Turbo? (No Boost because No Turbo).
OR How big a Supercharger? (None) because it isn't Supercharged.

How are the repairs coming?

That was brilliant.
Getting there, just waiting on parts arrival. The other stuff is done
Could be anytime or a long time. I am going for a full repaint as there was always some scratches and stone dents. Just waiting waiting waiting.

Good things come to those who wait.

I'm not overly patient and I rarely want to wait.
You would think I'd learn.
But, not so far.

Good prices on these trucks. Maybe I should sell ??

Patience......enough said
I don't have any either

does anyone know how that aerial comes off?! I didn’t even think of that. I don’t want to break it trying to remove it to see if I can add some sealant under it.

or should I not even try removing it to seal it? Because it looks like it could break if you just yank on it too hard?

I think I should start with that since the 3rd brake light has a new gasket as of this winter. So I figured I’d start with the shark fin.

Oh man I’m so anxious to get this fixed. It snowed today and it’s scheduled to rain all week!

Pull the headliner to remove the aerial or run a small amount of clear Silicone around the base of it.

haha oh man I’ll try!

there was some respite from the rain this afternoon and it lasted long enough for me to pull off the 3rd brake light and inspect + reseal it. Didn’t see any evidence that water snuck past the gasket so I’m guessing it’s the shark fin.

i want to wait to pull it off until I have at least a cheap replacement to put over it just in case I break it. So I have to pick that up on Monday and hopefully there’s another break in the rain long enough to try this.

I think In order to pull down the headliner I have to remove the two hooks and perhaps one of the seatbelts. Hopefully I don’t have to mess with the roof light.

I definitely though it was coming from the molding on the roof but from what I can tell there’s no openings under those moldings. I found some pics of them here:

Did you end up getting the rear bumper from X2?

Mine leaked in the exact same spot as well. I added some clear silicone all the way around the upper portion of the window, and the brake light. Doesn't leak anymore.
