Hey gang, I’m attempting what’s becoming a growing project. Replacing the factory radio for a double din with backup camera. I’m trying to figure out the best advice with wiring and running the amp bypass kit. I’ve found my way to the amp by half way removing the dash, I’m more asking what the wiring diagram look like for this project. Any help or videos are appreciated.

Why do you want to bypass the factory amp? Is it not working, or do you want a bigger one.

So I learned when you upgrade head units, you lose the factory amps because there is no module adapter. Therefore you have to bypass the infinity amps and purchase an aftermarket amp to power everything like oem. If you want to go further, you can upgrade speakers.

Thank you for this info. In the next few months I'm going to replace my head unit, and upgrade the speakers.

What’d you end up doing? I’m in the same boat right now. Sucks that we can’t just add a double din to the existing infinity system. Makes no sense. System sounded great with the factory head unit. I just wanted Bluetooth and here I am.

I haven't done it yet, had other priorities. Go to Crutchfield, they sell everything needed.

There is a head unit that is plug and play with both the Infinity amp and the stock dash opening, it's Android based but it isn't exactly cheap. Bluetooth, nav, multi-camera capable and can be configured with different apps just like any regular Android device.

My answer was to buy a new car that came with all this. I like stock - so that was a no brainer for me :p

Insane Audio. I have the older version, there is newer one out: https://insaneaudio.com/product/tj4001/ They told me it has a slightly faster processor and tiny bit more screen than the one I have.

See above. Plug & play except for the steering wheel controls; have to be comfortable cutting a wire (from the steering wheel controls before it hits the cluster) and routing it to the head unit. Then you just program what you want each button signal to do. No CD player, but has a spot for Mini-SD HC memory card.

It's so much better than any of the stock head units, even the RAH code MP3 CD player (which I still have if anyone is interested, comes with Terk sat radio adapter plus headphone jack to plug in ipod or phone).

It definitely appears to be a clean looking install . Did you install it and what were if any glitches installing were there ? Any problems programming or subscriptions need to operate any of the functions ? Are the accessories plug and play , cameras , SD card etc. does it have navigation or do you have to use an app like google maps ?

I installed it. It was a whirlwind week of new carpet, sound deadening, the newer seats & console, Grant wheel, backup cam and power tailgate lock.
Only two issues I ran into were figuring out what wire and where to cut it to enable steering wheel controls and setting up the camera. Could not for the life of me find a reverse wire that worked to switch it over. I instead opted to have cam on demand, this allows me to look behind me whenever I want with the push of a button. This is especially nice for long distance towing and I wanna check on the hitch & trailer (mainly for the boat).
Camera plugs right in once you route the cable up behind the dash. There are 2 MiniSD card slots in it, only comes with the one for the their native nav app (which isn't bad, I use it most times, especially if I'm somewhere without cell signal). The other slot is empty and you have to supply your own if you want to put music or videos, etc on it. It is an Android OS so it works just like any Android phone or tablet. For the most part you can customize it however you like. I park close enough to the house that it picks up the WiFi signal and updates the apps. I have loved this thing (even with the initial expense, though I bought it on Amazon and had a bunch of gift cards that came in handy lol) since I put it in. Insane Audio offered me a significant discount on a trade-in for the newer model but honestly I can't justify the expense for a slightly faster processor and a mm or 2 of screen lol. Here is the nav screen, I chose the tank but I think you can install custom icons if you wish (I had the ass end of an SRT-10 on my old TomTom). I have the left steering wheel button (the middle between track up & down) set to cycle through modes, so it goes from radio to bluetooth music to SD music player to nav.

Personally I like the on demand camera idea! Better than having to back up to check your hitch :D

But I seriously do like that better
