Jeep SRT-8 VS GTO.

I kinda expected that....You just cant beat the launches on the SRT8 Cherokees, the AWD really is efficient. The problem ive heard is the top end..it just isn't there....

I would imagine the race would be very similar with our trucks also

Same way the GMC Syclone used to be - ALL bottom end, but past 70 or so, they really start to fall on their face. Thing is, usually by then the race is over, or you're so far ahead the other guy doesn't have enough to catch back up!:D

I like the idea of the SRT Jeep, I just don't think I care for the looks of it so much.

I agree, It,s really a grocery getter that goes fast and can run well in the snow & rain. But not what I would want for true off roading.:dontknow:

The GC SRT8 is made for off roading just like a Ram SRT-10 is made for hauling sheet rock or pulling horse trailers. :hmmmm:

As far as the performance goes, the stealth quality of the Jeep is half the fun. :D I enjoy "spirited acceleration" as much as the next guy and while I don't condone street racing, the Jeep owns the stoplight wars and the 1/8th mile. The AWD and the aerodynamics hurt it the last half of the 1/4 mile and the SRT-10 should just about catch it. Stock real world track times are in the 13.1 to 13.5 range with consistent 1.8 second 60 ft. times on the stock tires.

The Jeep in the video was brand new and not broken in yet. There will be a big performance improvement once they get a few miles on it. But, that might be a bad thing because driving like that on the street, especially at those speeds, is irresponsible and just plain stoooooopid! :stupid:

Just saw a Jeep SRT8 at our track this week. His best run was a 13.58. That makes him about .5 slower than me, LOL. :D
And I see that you're running the "L" version of stock. ;)

I had a ride in a Jeep SRT-8 this week and was very impressed. Low end was beyond impressive and top end was good. In tight sweepers if was flat and predictable. The ride and comfort were great. I think it is a wonderful driver. If I needed a vehicle it would be a contender.

In the video they are running much longer than a 1/4 mile, this can be shown by timing from the launch. How fast do I need to go, WOW^MOM, not that fast. I don't need to street race period. I need avehicle that is fun to drive.

Yeah, good point!! I do have a trailer hitch though!!:D

Is the Jeep SRT-8 all wheel drive all the time?? Can it be locked out to 2wd??
How is the Low range?

I guess the best vehicle to compare it to would be the Porsche Cayenne!! Definitely faster than the 05 model don't know about the 06 yet. They are sporting more ponies, pretty heavy, 5200 lBs. Also the SRT-8 price is a no brainer!!

Whats the SRT-8 weigh??

What is the availability on mods??

its AWD all the time. there is no low range it is not trail rated. weight is around 4100lbs-4400lbs I think, compaired to my ram srt it feels as light as a lotus. It supposed to be faster then the Cayenne turbo S too.

First of all I woudnt want to ride in a Srt-8 jeep at top end, lol not in a suv, even if it is lowerd.

But the jeep was running a GTO thats no slouch there. But that was the 04 GTO only 350 horses. Race a 05 model with 400 horses and would be much closer race.

I adore the jeep srt-8 i think its a good overall package just like the srt-10 ram..

will be a few years untill the price falls, but one day i may get one.

damn nice launch...
I kinda like the GC. For the $, I'd rather get a CSRT8.

I can honestly say that the Jeep is one helluva package, just like our trucks are. When I first heard they were doing one, I was WTF? But then I started seeing the commercials and info online, and I have to say I have been extremely impressed with my brothers SRT8 GC. I have fallen in love with it. When I need another vehicle, I will have a tough time turning away from one of these badboys! As for mods, all the mods for the 6.1L Hemi will work on the jeep as well.

Drove several at the SRT Track Experience in Atlanta...I think that they will kill most of our stock trucks in the 1/8th and probably still be ahead in the 1/4. I loved the vehicle...

I will really be interested in mods that are applied to this vehicle.

Still trying to get my wife to trade her car for one.

The 6.1 in my bro's Charger responds awesome to the mods he made. He had Magnaflow mids and exhaust, and a K&N intake. If the Jeep responds that well, we have no chance in the 1/4 man.

Well, keep the playing field even - Our trucks can pick up some decent power with aftermarket exhaust as well. Though personally, I don't think intakes do too much for our trucks.
