Vendors!!! Metal Fabricators, or ever Fiberglass Layers . . . I've had several PM's concerning the hood in my sig pic. What would it take to create this hood? Fiberglass would be a weight savings, but the strength concerns me. Maybe a new skin and the existing framing/support is reused. Or even a whole new hood all together. . .

So what would it take? I'd be interested, as well as a several others.

Here's a better pic.

Damn Damn Damn I want one so badly now:rock:

Imagine the Supercharger that would fit under that hood....8-71? :D :burnout:

Is this CF hood any taller? :D

I would not be worried about the stength if it is fiberglass, many glass applications out there that are more than fine in that dept.

True..... any good body shop/ hot-rod shop, or boat builder could graft in a few inches on the scoop for you. :) All you would need is an aftermarket hood (fiberglass) and some coin.

,,,,,,,Man dont lump all those guys together  . I'm a Rod shop and I NEVER glued no fiberglass crap on no metal part . That just aint right <G>
To top it off that stuff itches like some Acunua Crabs. I never have really looked at the hood from that perspective but I think I would do it in steel ,cut the factory ,weld in the new one but the part I am unsure of would be the sub structure and what mods that would take to keep integrity of the whole structure . One PIA is the late bodies are made from thinner HSS steel which can be a bigger pain to weld than the stuff I normally work on .

Your right.... And I didn't say that it would be as "nice" as a factory molded steel/fiberglass hood..... I just said it could be done, and LOOK nice. :dontknow: ;) I have seen more "drastic" mods done to parts in fiberglass, and they turned out fine. :dontknow:

Sent ya a PM HotRodMike. . .

Thanks for the compliment 2ndChance. :D
