Update:
IndyCoder (Phil) did have an accident on his scooter. He is in the hospital after being air-lifted from the event.
The lady that he ran into is just fine.
We are doing what we can for Phil (and his truck). There's not much info, because we all just met in the last 24 hours. Bone is spear-heading the operation. I will update as we get info.
The tent was very full today (only 2 or 3 spots open). It was very cool putting faces with names. A very relaxed time was had by all (save for the Phil stuff). There's a thorough contingent of the trucks; about 4x as many trucks as Viper cars.
Dinner at Hooters was cool, but only due to the company. The service was...ummm....lack-luster.
Funny: Watching (6) SRT-10's leaving the parking lot one behind the next, each taking their turn by the patio at Hooters lighting 'em up. Heh heh.
The cruise down Brice road is fun. Groups of people are lined up along about a 5-mile stretch tossing buckets of water onto the street and clamoring for you to "burn 'em!". You don't need to ask me twice. LOL I think everyone in our 6-vehicle group left a nice visual for folks. Oh, and the train horns are hysterical. Rocket and Bone were filling some shorts when they tooted theirs. I was giggling like a school girl after hearing them rip a couple of blasts. Too funny.
At the 'bottom' of Brice Road, right before the I-70 overpass, I got caught at the light (I was the trailer of the group). This is where the most spectators are; over-crowding the corners, tossing out bucket after bucket of water for all the badass vehicles that come by, in the hopes that they get a burnt rubber rush.
Well, I'm a giver.
The kids nearest my truck were yelling "LIGHT 'EM UP!!!", and I replied, "Wait for the light, and I'll get you a little present." LOL The light went green, no one in front of me.....1st...let the clutch out quick and move over to the brake, apply MORE throttle...keep going on the throttle, and quickly whip it into 2nd (no clutch...heh heh).
I think they got the show they wanted. :burnout:
(Cool Part: The cops are very easy about breakin' them loose. If you're safe and smart, they won't say anything. Most smile along with ya. Keep it safe, and keep it smart, and you'll have a good time w/o having Johnny Law asking you for paperwork.)
I'll be picking burnout boogers from my nose until morning, but it was a good time. After the cruise down Brice and a couple of wrangling phone calls, we all met up at the Chase Bank parking lot next to Burger King. We're not sure what happened to Doneo, but he missed us. MoPower had a nice show-case "on the grass" spot just on the other side of Burger King from us.
Oh, and the bathroom line at BK was only about 5 minutes. Not bad considering the amount of people out and about.
Sapientiam and I cruised over to the "gentleman's entertainment facility" that we'd gotten a free pass for. A couple of beers, some very girthy ladies, and we were headed out the door for a good nights rest....saving some energy for Saturday.
I hope to meet those that I missed today on Sat. So far, it's been a good time. We hope to hear more info on Phil tomorrow or Monday.
If you're in the area, stop by and say hello.
