I got my oil changed yesterday, couldnt get Mobil oil, they said since Hurrican Ike(I live in houston), Exxon sends their oil to their service stations first and distributes it elsewhere after that, I went with Castrol instead

Most parts stores here are well stocked with Mobile 1....is that just a Texas thing?..:dontknow:

I guess, the shelf was empty, they said I could try next week, but I was 200 miles over 3000, and Im one of those people who really, really maintain the fluids in their vehicles

actually oddly enough, our base exchange is carrying both 10w-30 and 10w-40 for 6.99 a qt. i'm surprised that they carry it at all

once you put the paxton on you are gonna want to run 15w40 better for the motor w/fi. just some heads up.

Castrol Syntec is not a true synthetic. It is a extra refined petroleum oil.

This is true. I was in Beaumont working in the XOM Chemical plant. I was there from 9/30/08 til 12/12/08 and they had just got the synthetics part of the plant up on 12/10/08. This is the unit that makes the oil so hopefully it will start getting back on shelves soon.

According to XOM employees the one in Beaumont is one of only 2 in North America that make Mobil 1 synthetic oil.
