Why not try to get the trans they want to put in the truck. Tell them you are going to do it yourself. Rent a U-haul, pick it up, and then ship it directly to Dusty and let him work his majic. I would think if the case on the trans is good to go Dusty could fix it up nice.

Whatever parts Dusty takes out, sell them on e-bay, craigslist or some crap like that since they will be brand new and never used.

Just a thought, if you don't trust them.

There are some minor differences in the SRT-10 trans as compared to the Diesel. I was told what they were and can't remember it all now. So I am not going to make something up.

I said hey y'all it's got an upgraded tranny with a warranty no problems here.............. I've never regretted dropping 45 g's on the Magnum or 42 Gs on the Red truck.................. Brain Trust UNITE. Tell me the difference between the SRT spec tranny and the normal 48RE. One I think is the 6 pinion billet planetaries............. i think there are others too.:burnout:

I bet everyone who saw your truck on the back of that wrecker broke their necks trying to look at it...maybe even a few chased it like kids after an ice cream truck.
 
Thats what I told the driver......... this truck sure does make that tow truck look nice.... :)

I'm calling Jasper today and ask if they can make sure this thing has a shift kit at least.........

I'm going to buy some parts from dusty for next time. I'm kind of running into a problem where I'm becoming overwhelmed......... I just don't know what to do. No matter what I do I'm out the cash.....

All this and I feel like i've led Dusty along, I called and wanted a new tranny, maybe a bit premature because i just don't have the cheese............... we got to keep out savings safety net up........

Maybe this will be the last transmission it gets........... Everyone pray to Tom Cruise to use his witch craft to save my pocket book from this transmission! LOL

Transmissions are the issue with the QC...you are headed in the right direction.

How about some pics of your Maggie...is it an SRT 8? (I love them wagons!)
 
Sorry i did not reply to your pm i just figured it was a long way for a wrecker(south houston) i have replaced alot of jasper transmissions powerstrokes eat them big tires, chips, exhaust pretty much give them a life span of just under a year. I ve replaced one guys 2 times in a year. but i hope things work out for you.
 
hey when they set up the TV on this truck it is all the way IN...... Without anymore adjustment.

Maybe I've got to shorten the cable...........
 
Well got off the phone with Jasper........................

I've lost my warranty.............. LOL the major selling factor of the truck, the transmission with the "waranty" is the bain of my existence....

They will no longer warranty my transmission as it has been updated with a blower. To date the transmission will only last 1 day anyhow.............

Damn. Damn. Damn........................ now I'm sad :(

I tried to call Jasper they must be busy left a message. Asked them for a SRT core and some money as they sold a product that is faulty.

So I've got a truck, a pretty truck, that fills the catch cans with water, smokes like mad out of the breathers, has paint chips and cigarette burns in the headlinner (smokers car, first thing my dad told me LOL I said no i don't think it was smoked in, he goes yep you can smell it then points out the burn in the pass side headliner :) ), and a bad tranny..................

To say I'm disappointed would be the understatement of the century.

The engine is tight though 2% leak down. :rock:

I am one of those guys that sits back listen to people complain and not say anything. But I have been reading your posts since you got that truck. I don't understand.

That truck was bad ass. I have rode in it I have dried the bastard off. Hell I almost traded him for my truck.

All these post you seem to beat around the bush and say that Eddie sold you a peice of Sh*T. I call BS. I am not one to make waves by any means. But you knew when getting a truck like this, that sh*T happens. Ain't nobody's fault but the person between the steering wheel and the drivers seat.

So you are having problems. OK we all do. But Some people Or hell maybe just me seem like you keep taking jabs at the person that sold it to you. Not the case.

Get your tranny fixed. Fix the headliner, paint chips. smoking and what ever else is happening and join the rest of us on the never ending mod trip. But don't take jabs. I know that if something was wrong with it before you got it IT would have been fixed.


Good Luck with you tranny. I hope you get it working right. I say put a 400 in it.
 
Jay, I know you are really down about the truck...mark my words, there will be better days ahead.

In reference to the transmission warranty...it just makes sense that if you have FI (or any power adder for that matter) the manufacturer is going to balk at paying for anything that could be affected by that added power. You would do the same thing if you were in their shoes. Now should your power windows go out, or your wipers stop working...they should stand behind those things. I am sure will agree.

This modification process is a manic process of very high times and very low times...and I think that is part of the appeal. We have all been where you are, and we all know if you stick with it...there will soon be days that you just cannot contain the excitement!

Hang in there, put your nose to the grind stone and move forward.

I have a feeling that a lot of your issues revolve around the cost...well, cost is always twice what you expect and it takes three times as long, in hot rods. You need to realize the cost factors on the front end...and you might want to look at what you are willing to spend over the next few years...if you don't have $15 or 20k to invest in the next two or three years...you should make the decision to fix it soft, possibly less than it was when Eddie had it. In those years, gather the funds you need to make it HARD...then have fun without the $$$$ worries.

Ok heres the deal.

I bought a truck with a bad transmission. I should have sucked up my loss of 700 bucks flying down their and spent another 700 and flown back. As soon as I drove it. You see I didn't break anything................... now it failed on me but it was broken from the first time I drove it tell it failed a week later................

If it had a stock transmission in it then you know this wouldn't be a problem. I would've bought a built transmission for it back then. But then again I wouldn't have paid for a truck with a built transmission, I would've paid for a truck with a roe, cam headers and paint. The expense would have been alot less.......

And the truck still is bad ass.........Have you seen the recent pics!!!!!!!.......... But you don't have to deal with these problems and if so many small issues were not disclosed, you might talk about it, and in so doing you may be misinterpreted as bashing someone.

I'm bashing this transmission............. O and the water thing what ever that is???? :)

ike why do think i put a tranny in there to start with? one clue, it burnt up. thats with adjusting the bands and changing the fluid and filter twice a year. 2nd chad from jasper called me today and told me you left him a message on his phone saying the tranny shop couldnt find anything wrong with the tranny in your truck and that you called the warranty department after he told you to let the transmission shop handle it. you might want to put all the facts out there if your going to post. you didnt have to buy the truck and it seems since youve gotten it youve been looking for something wrong with it. either with the motor or the tranny. the only problem i had with it was bouncing off the rev limiter from 1st to 2nd/ in perry ga 2 weeks before you picked it up it was fine. i ran it up to 135 at wide open throttle following griffsrt back to the motel put 4 dyno runs on it and it gave me no trouble maybe you shouldve saved the 15 - 20 grand you spent on those 4 wheelers and put a tranny in there like you want. that ones not going to shift like a turbo 400 or 727 its electronically controlled. im out and done trying to help you with jasper. its a modded truck. it wont drive like a stock truck.
