Well this morning I was checking my accounts out and every thing was fine. A few hours later my bank USAA calls and ask where I am. They informed me someone had made several purchases with my debit card in Spain. Needless to say they shut the card off and will put the money back in my account within a few days.

I've always heard of this happening to folks, but never would have figured I'd get hit. Thanks to USAA I have no stress over the situation. My mind did wonder on how the criminals got my info. Cyber attack, a crooked waiter that took my card info, a rigged machine, etc...

To make sure, I will be using my credit card or cash at restaurants from now on. Just in case it was a waiter/server.

I doubt it. They probably hacked into your banks system and stole a whole bunch of credit card numbers

USAA did that for me 2 months ago with credit card. The charge was only 9.88 and they still figured out that it was not mine.

happened to my wife at waucovia bank or what ever it use to be called twice ...turned out it was a bank employee:mad:

I doubt they find out who stole my info, but it sure would be bad ass if they did.

Yeah I'd like to meet the person who did it! Give me 5 min alone with them. I'll live out my "Man on Fire" fantasy and duck tape them to the steering wheel and cut their fingers off with a cigar cutter then burn them nubs with a cigarette lighter

I feel your anger. And it is justified.

However, let not your anger cause you to exceed the bounds of proper punishment........ should the occasion present itself. :itsme: ;)

Damn, how much money was it? lol

It appears USAA has been having lots of problems with phishing scam emails ---they are always investigating crap like that....Glad they caught it ....

Yeah, a couple of years ago my credit union and bunches of other gave everyone new cards cause all the info got stolen from source...thousands of numbers with pins.

Gonna be more and more of that, I watch when I put in my pin to see if anyone, especially the checker/whoever is paying a little too much attention. They got me too about 4 years ago...same deal. Never found out how.

I'd like to think karma catches up with people who intentionally do wrong to others. Doesn't always happen as quick as we would like, but it does cath up with them as time passes on.

Well my info was stolen on Monday. I got a new card by wednesday, just check my account and I got my money back by thursday. Now thats fast. THANKS USAA!
