As I mentioned in another thread, after our vacation at Lake Tahoe this coming August I may head to San Diego and visit some folks down there. Looks like Karen may want to do that also instead of heading home, so I will probably rent a vacation house and spend 4 or 5 nights.

The question I have is what cities are nice in the area. I will probably want beach front or at least a nice beach view.

This is the place we usually use to find vacation rentals. If you could provide some feed back as to what cities on the list to look at it would be greatly appreciated.

craigslist in San diego would be good for this too.. Send me your phone number and I can help you with this.

I would Recommend Homewood Suites in Del Mar. Almost have an ocean view. Good Prices for the location and ammenities.

John what is Boeing going to do with out you? If they call, don't answer your phone.

Bill.

La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay/Beach. They are some of the places I'd be looking. Or you can just stay with us, the beach is only an earthquake away hehehe.

Lately(the last 3 years) PB and Mission have become overcrowded, no parking, and just too much at night.

However if you're looking to party a lot not a bad spot at all.

here's an example. check this out in Solana Beach. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/vac/2104453233.html

Solana Beach is right next to Del Mar. And if you're coming in August you're looking at Del Mar Race Track being very alive

Hello Billy,

Actually last Friday was my last day supporting the project I had worked on for the last 4 years. It's been a killer, but it's 99% complete so I have moved back to my old office and start my new project full time this coming Monday.

The scheduling for this new project will keep me busy for the next 3 years, but this coming summer should be pretty quiet. It will start to get real busy a year from now.

So if all goes well, the phone will stay home and only my boss will be able to contact me on my personal cell phone if necessary.

Santa Monica?

That's not very close to San Diego Jerry.:dontknow: :D

Karen has never been to San Diego so that is why we are going there. However on the way home I will probably be traveling up the coast for at least part of the trip. I will make sure to let you know when we pass through the area and maybe we can meet for lunch.

Thanks for the information. I'm to old to have what little sleep I get interupted by parties going on all night.

I will look into craigs list also. One thing I'm noticing for house or condo rentals is that the majority of them are by the week or month. The availability by the night rentals is limited.

I stayed in Corporate apartments in La Jolla a few years back, it was very nice!

I have to agree with Dustin though, Residence Inn or Homewood Suites will make it easy, and they are usually close to everything.

I am looking forward to taking my wife down that way one of these years. San Diego is a very nice place to visit!

hahaha, forgot to mention. I said Homewood Suites Del mar. Because Del Mar is NICE AS HELL for one thing:elefant::elefant::elefant:. But Two, because if you notice there is a Homewood in downtown... :dontknow: Don't even look twice at that one hahahah. It sits Directly under the Run way path. about 200 yards after they lift off, they're on top of homewood. I feel bad for the people that stay there hehehe

John,
I'd let you stay here, but we have a 2.5 year old and 1.5 year old. So we're partying all night too, but not the same kind of up all night shinanigans the rest of us usually enjoy lol.

I'll keep my eye out. I have a lot of contacts out here too, so I'll try to remember if anyone has a rental that I know of.

But now that I think of it there is another place that my wife and I LOVE to go when we get away. it's in "Little Italy" GREAT part of town, with a quiet, nice, and polite crowd. LOTS of good eating, Lots to see. If you want you should stay in Del Mar and then Stay here for 1 or 2 nights(you still won't get to hit up all the good restaurants there though:) ).
It's called La Pensione Hotel. It just got rennovated. Very nice, and only about 70/80 bucks a night
