Truck shaky at highway speeds, any idea?

A tire will go through 3 different harmonic balance cycles at different speed. Since your vibration comes in at a certain speed I am pretty sure it is a tire balance problem. 1 If you feel it through the steering wheel it is most likly in the front. 2. If you feel it in your seat check the rear...

    Tall highway gears?

I had 3.73 in mine for a few years. I did not notice much drop in performance at all. I did notice the almost 500 rpm drop in rpms at freeway speeds and the extra 2.5 mpg I got with the 3.73s. I had a 2005 QC and routinly got 16.5 to 17 mpg on the hiway. best I ever got with the 4.56 on the...

    Rick Johnson - Tire Repair

I would always go to a tire dealer to fix a tire and never a car dealer. There is a lot more to proper tire repair than one would think. Car dealers are getting into selling tires because they can buy buy the cheap OE tires from the car factories at reduced prices. Little training goes into the...

    2005 QC for sale

I put 3.73 gears in because I used to do a lot of hiway driving. It dropped the rpms at 75 by about 500 rpm and I got 2 to 2.5 better mpg doing this which was about a 20% improvment. It now gets 16.5 to 17 mpg at 80 mph cruising and before I got around 14.

    Gonna be in Boise,ID 9-14

Being from Idaho Falls I know it can be boring in the winter if you do not ski or snowmobile. If you like doing things outdoors like hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling etc. it can't be beat. WInter are long and depressing for newby's.

    Tall highway gears?

As I recall the gear set with a new carrier bearing from Unitrax was a little over $400. I had a local friend who is a viper mechanic install the gears with new sythetic lube and that ran about $600. It is recomended that after 2500 miles you change the differential fluid with new synthetic.

    Tall highway gears?

I put 3.73 gears in my 2005 QC almost 3 years ago. I dropped the rpms around 500 at 75 mph. On several long trips I have averaged about a 2.5 mpg increase when crusing at 80. You notice very little drop in performance IMO. I have pulled trailers with the 3.73 and never had any problem. Only...

Tire Life! This Could Save One Of Our Lives!

I was in our family tire business for over 25 years and I can tell you that the tire age thing is being blown way out of reality. Most of the tires they showed with tread seperated off the casing is the result of under inflation or overloading. Take for example the story of the van full of boys...

    Mercedes Maint question

MB has a few services that have to be performed at a MB dealer to keep warranties intact. Be ready to spend $200 to $300 for a basic oil change even though they say they inspect other things. My Scheduled B service last time was an oil change and new brake fluid with a cost of over $600.
