I have thought about this a hundred times and still wonder just how much trouble it would be. Could you imagine the hole shot!!!!!! Lets see, somehow get a transfer case behind the tranny(mine is a RC 6spd). The front end could be the problem. Would a front diff fit in there? I would have to see a 4X4 hemi truck with the engine out. Anyone have any imput???

It would probably be easier to drop a V10 engine/trans into a hemi 4x4 based chassis. If ya want a 4x4 that scoots, go buy a Jeep GC SRT8. Buying it vice the 10 4x4 idea would probably be cheaper in the long run...My $0.02 worth.

I given this a lot of thought as well. Since mine is an 06 riding on a 2500 frame, I thought of just swapping the transmission off a diesel 4X4 and the front crossmember. I don't know how much work that would be but it would definitely be the way to go. All wheel drive SRT-10.

your in my club now. your going to add 600lbs to the truck.
in any case the front spindles are off a 4wd now.

chevy diesel xfer case would work. chevy custom front diff with custom cv shafts and drive shafts as well. you could do it.

    think slicks are easier/cheaper.

It would make an already heavy truck into an even heavier truck...I bet the weight gain would eat all advantages gained off the line by the time you crossed the finish.

Certainly a possibility but as a thought, it would be one wicked ride.

This has been discussed a number of times here.

As with most things, if you have enough money you can do anything.

FastRam has it right. It would be cheaper and easier to put a V10 in an existing 4X4 than it would be to try to convert a SRT/10 to a 4X4.

but then it wouldnt be an SRT10. I have an SRT8 Jeep, which is probably why I am interested in making my truck run like the Jeep out the hole. I just dont see THAT much trouble.

These truck are already such massive bricks, 600lbs wouldnt hurt much considering the advantage of awd. Use chevy stuff huh, if I do this thing, I will contact you scoobert. If I were into going to the track all the time, I would just do slicks, but I want a holeshot on the street with my regular wheels on there. Im thinkin about it.

Oh yeah you would give up a bunch, and if my truck were at stock 500hp, I would never consider it, but I have 900 crank HP, I could use AWD on the street. I really think it would be worth it.

I know, but I do all my work myself, so I could bail when I see how much trouble it potentially could be.

i don't know of any other full size diesel trucks that had independent front suspension. wonder where you could mount the front diff?

You would have tons of options as far as a diff, so many custom options available that this will be the easy part. Maybe could even use the center section from a Viper rear. Would need custom spindles and axle shafts. Part of the location of the front diff depends on the transfer case you decide to use. I don't know if there are any all wheel drive transfer cases out there that could handle 1000+ hp. One that is meant to be all wheel drive and doesn't evenly split the power front to rear would be best.

I think it would be really cool. If you have really good fabrication skills and access to some good driveline shops anything is possible. Paying a shop to do all the work would be PRICEY.
