I went to LACR Palmdale on 5-20-06 and took my Pride Legend handicapped scooter with me. (I have Fibromylgia)
I got home about 11:30PM Saturday night and was exhausted. I started out at 4:30AM Saturday. Being tired I decided to leave the scooter on the rack on the back of my dually and deal with it in the mourning (I live in a pretty good neighborhood, I thought). Well sometime before 9:00AM Sunday it was stolen. Low life Cocksu$%ers.
I have been told that I can claim it on my homeowners Insurance (with 1000.00 deductible) and my rates will go up 25% next year and 15% the year after. That comes to 800.00 increase just in the first 2 years. I pay 1766.00 per year now. I have never filed a claim on my homeowners ins for the 38 years I have owned a home. I feel like I am being blackmailed from filing a legitimate claim.
I have a good friend who is an Ins adjuster and he says don't file a claim unless it is a big loss (over 10,000.00) or the possibility of a large liability case.
I have another friend that filed a claim 4 years ago and was dropped the next year and had to go to an all risk pool and pay double what he had been paying for homeowners. This was after a pipe burst. He had a lot of trouble finding the pool company to even get homeowners insurance.
Screwed one more time by my Insurance Co.
I think they belong right up there with the oil company's.
My opinion.
