Dumb question i don't want to look up lol

If i get a couple of whatever then add to them how do i avoid wash sale if i did sell any? I've only tried it by getting all at same price.

Will the positions page show the cost basis of all buys combined?

I jnow the safe answer is never sell in red but how do you know what anount you paid for what?

Say you bought 10 and each was a different price over a 10 day period

Thanks

Correct on not selling in the red is the best way to avoid ..

When you decide to sell use the Specific Shares link on the Scwab sell ticket and choose the buy lots and amount of shares you wish to sell . Not sure on Schwab but others do require a total f 1 share to sell !
The other option is if you made 2 buys at different prices then you have to choose which lot to sell using the tax strategies choices . Default with brokers unless you change it is FIFO . Means that’s what they sell . You need to change it to one of the other tax strategy options to avoid a buy lot sell in the red .
Say your first buy lot is red and the second buy lot is green then yo need to change from FIFO to LIFO .. and r you forget you have very little time to fix the mistake on the platform or will have to call the broker and tell them to change it before it settles .

Here is a trade ticket .. to help show you what to click ..

This will come up when you click , then choose the sell strategy!
Specific lots will bring up the previous pop up to choose the lots and how many shares you decide to sell .

Good thank you! I've only used the snap ticket and never knew all that was available! Maybe it's there and i didn't know to open one up - appreciate it!

It’s there .. but if you click to open the snap ticket to full page you’ll see what I show in the pics

AAPL doing it again and again for over a month ..
Pounded then comes back everyday .. it’s already regained over half of the down on the open .. probably the best flipper I’ve ever seen for a daily trade and even if it changes I’m long term with divs and growth ..

A simple way to see your buy lots info is from the account summary page … see the symbol and to the right is a drop down ,, 3 bars and a down arrow .. click to opn the drop down and choose LOT DETAILS ….

It will show you this on the positions about each lot buy ..

The above is a cheap small high yield % ETF that is suppose to have downside protection built in the fund .. as you can see on the pic , I’m all green gains including the many more that didn’t fit the screenshot ..
It took a hit when bobblehead came ,, like everything else did .. but has recovered now with a decent monthly div income payout . It ve been long for years .. I consider it a decent income source and a continuation of slow growth .. effect for a longer term income source . I did stop adding to it a while ago when all lots turned green .. I take the cash div and not the DRIP . but switch back and forth cash to drip based on the price and the market ..

The div yield appears to be 7.22% now

Are the odd quantities the reinvestments?

That's a nice looking fund I added it ...

Yes those would be from the DRIP ..
Personally there are better funds than NUSI at this time .. IMO at least for me .. RYLD and QYLD are higher yeild . Price is lower .. I’ll add RYLD and have been .l but Theron getting close to my limit .. I’m looking mostly for other possible ETF’s to buy ,, and will add to others I own again based on price ..
