Engine Block 05-06

Good luck! Hoping your next block is hiding in some corner just waiting to go down under for a new life!

Seen that, but still by the time I get it home it is $20kNZ and then have to start building it. Probably another $15kNZ.
Just curious, if you bought a totaled (scrapped) out Ram SRT-10 (let’s say it was hit really hard in the rear), wouldn’t you just pay the scrap value metal cost?

Here in the U.S. my son needed an engine for his Toyate Celica. His car had the rare Lotus engine (which is also installed in the Lotus Elise). They shipped the entire front end from Japan for $2500.

Not that they have a scrapped SRT-10 in Japan, but in Japan they have a weird rule that any car over 50K miles must be scrapped. So the auto wrecking companies cut them in half, and send them to the U.S. It was funny when it came in because it had the fenders, hood, and the rest of the front end. It was just cut in half. It was cheaper this way, instead of buying a engine here from a local scrap yard.

That could very well be the answer … how do you connect with the Japanese scrapers ?

I don’t think you’d find a SRT-10 truck in Japan, however what I was trying to point out is why can’t he just ship a wrecked Ram SRT-10 from the U.S.? Find one that has a perfect front end. Who cares if the engine has a bunch of miles (within reason) on it, as long as it runs and can get him back on the road again.

Here is a story about my nephew:
My nephew needed an engine for his car. I was trying to teach him how to work on cars (he was like 18yo). So I take him to the junk yard and we find 2 cars with the engine he needs. I show him the cars. One is in near perfect condition, and the other had a destroyed rearend. I asked him which one he thinks he should buy? He liked the near perfect car. I let him know it was not a really good choice. The reason? The wrecked car was working before someone ran into it. He bought the wrecked car engine. The engine ran perfectly after we installed it.

Yep good way to look at it … “ Just because something is new doesn’t mean it’s good “ and the reverse saying of “ If it ain’t broke don’t fix it “ hahaha !
Yes I get the just of getting of the Japan comment .. But I’ll bet someone their has a 10 :) and worth trying to find out .. It’s closer to KIWILAND !

The hit it the rear one was probably black hahahaha was there any red paint on it?? Just kidding!

Yes that's a great idea for Kiwi to look for a nice wreck and ship it over - as long as he doesn't feel the urge to convert it to RHD before he takes the engine out hahahaha
