I had the driver rear wheel/tire checked today. It had a slow leak, would be flat after about 3 days, figured I had a screw in the tire. The salesman takes me in the shop, on the inside lip of the wheel there is a crack in the wheel, about a 1/2-3/4" in length headed toward the center of the wheel. There is no evidence of damage (curb checks, dents/dings in wheel, etc.) to the wheel what so ever, other then the finish peeling off. Kind off freaked me out a little. Has anyone ever seen this before? Does anyone know what might have caused this? Now I have a brand new set of black and satin silver 24" wheels and tires out of the deal, not a bad deal, but I am sure going to miss the look of my factory wheels.

Lol! I have seen a lot of stuff bend, brake, and crack with curb checks, but that's what gets me. This wheel has never hit the curb, no rash, no dents, or dings, the wheel is in exceptional condition minus the crack running down the inside lip. I replaced the wheels about 10 minutes after I found out it was cracked. The tire started going low around every 3 days, assumed I picked up a nail or something. This all started about 2-3 weeks ago. About 6 weeks ago I had the same tire checked for going low, they said it was a nail, I took it to a different shop this time (a friends shop) they are the ones that informed me of the crack. I thought for a moment maybe the other shop did it with their tire machine, they had ever living hell getting the tire off the wheel there, but there is not the slightest scuff, gouge, bur, or any marks what so ever on the wheel. Just seemed really odd the way this has come about, and if these wheels are subject to crack for no reason, I don't want to waste money on a new set to have the same issue in another 40k miles. Kind of weird thinking about how many time that truck has been a 100+ with a cracked wheel.

Cracked a rear wheel today. inside bead so no curb. Going to see what options I have as there are no SRT 10 wheels for sale here in NZ. I don't want to change all 4 but may have to

Sorry to here that you cracked a wheel. I hope that you are able to find a replacement wheel without going to Non OEM wheels.

There is a place in Christchurch called Elite Wheels that specialises in doing repairs.
The tyre shop here in Timaru has taken the tyre off and sent the wheel to them. Should be back in 2 days
    So all is good

Three out of four of mine have been aluminum welded throughout previous owners. Getting ready to change to aftermarket satin black Viper replica rims. To find one reconditioned, they are about $700 each. Too much to pay IMO.
