Can a IAC for a like vehicle year , make and , model except with a different engine be used with out having a problem ?

I have a 2002 dodge Dakots 3.9 MT and have bought a IAC that I now found out the wire connector is not to the side of the valve but goes straight back .. I found that the IAC is for a 2.5 and 4.0 litre engines and not the 3.9 ... The question is do the IAC operated the same and wont affect the engine operation or signals to the ECM any different than the factory IACor other proper IAC's .. Does,it really matter ?

Someone will know! Can you look at a site with interchangeable parts info?

Everything else I bought appears to he correct .. keeping my fingers crossed on them all .. but they probably wont be instatlled as the codes are still gone except the batter temp sensor code ..

Thats what ive been doing and says wont fit , whatever that meas yet tells me it for my dakota but not the engine ??? They look the same except the connector location .. thats why im wondering if they are the same or different internally and the operation of them .

These are comparisons of the different type of connector locations ..
The first is for the 3.9 and the second is for the 2.5 and 4.0 engines ..

The connector looks to be long enough in the truck to plug into either one ..the rest in the pic appears to be identical .. the question is still are they actually the same internally or not ?IMG_2172.pngIMG_2173.png

I figure they are just electric plungers that the ECM fully controls !

Been all over those and nothing on the IAC on any other searchs that answer the question im looking for ..

There are a million IAC and application , part numbers for all makes and models .... different engines use the same parts also. I really am in doubt that the operation of the IAC's are differnt from one to another except for connections and possibly the boot on patterns and plunger sizes
