Re-tune done

Warning noted. They used the same piston design in the 3.9/5.2/5.9 magnum series engines. 5-6 psi on forced induction was the max they could handle. I’m still not sure why they would cheap out on the viper V10 with those pistons and rods. If I do go with the heads and cam I will most likely do the pistons and rods at the same time. Just makes sense to me while the heads are off.
If you have a look in New Zealand and under Engine Build you can see what I did and why. The new build is cool but very costly. I only did it because a set of brand new old stock Striker Heads came up for grabs complete with the Jesel Roller Rocker kit. Been living on toast and water for 2 years to pay for it hahaha.

The pistons are made by the same manufacturer, Mahle. They built what the customer asked for. If they were allowed to build the one on the right we could just crank these babies up to 1000hp no trouble
Today’s world ,, build things to break and make everyone buy new, Quality doesn't matter over making a buck .. Bring back Lee Iacocca hahaha ..

@Rebeltaz83 The main thread ....

I’m torn on the pistons…. I think changing them for peace of mind is the best thing to do. Pistons and rods. I was looking into a stroker crank but I don’t think for the small gains without over bore is worth the money. Not for a street truck anyways. If I was dragging maybe. I think just top end build and enjoy the truck. Be nice to find a block in good shape and start with that. I just don’t want to go down the rabbit hole and have to upgrade the entire drivetrain.

Yeah I haven't gone huge hp otherwise the gearbox, driveshaft become a problem. I would get headwork done at Southeast Performance if you are in the south. Talk to John Mercedes. May not need forged rods. Pistons yeah. They can now get very close to striker performance out of OEM heads. Seat of your pants, you wouldn't know the difference. A cam and then dyno tune watching for fuel injectors maxing out or fuel pump. Being so far away I put slightly bigger injectors and a bigger pump rather than waste time and money by having to change them out later and retuning and redyno. But that is only what I did.

Im told these TT kits are fairly easy to do. Other than building your internals to withstand this i guess getting a built trans would help.
The T56 was upgraded for the heavier truck, only down side is it basically obsolete now. I’m sure you can have a machine shop cut anything you need for it but it’s gonna cost. Especially if you go with billet internals. I’m not sure how much noise straight cut gears make, but I would definitely consider it. Tremec now makes a 7 speed. They also make a T56 magnum that is basically the same T56 on steroids good for up to 1,000 hp if memory serves me correct. It will come with a new yolk for the driveshaft because they increased the diameter I THINK up to 1.25” it’s slightly longer as well so getting the driveshaft cut down an inch or so will also have to be done(I could be thinking of the T6060). But it’s a basic bolt in. I’ve done a bunch of research back in January/ February when I rebuilt my T56.

But like you say, it all depends what you are going to use it for. Drag with slicks T56 maybe a short life. It is just that dropping the clutch in 1st gear. That is something I don't do. I don't really nail it until in 2nd as it is a bit easier on the gearbag.

They rev up hard and fast in 1st no matter auto or manual.. DONT miss the shit into second or you could get a big OUCH !

Hard to believe but I've been enjoying my Striker build for 19 years already. There are many available options today, when on a quest for more power.
And when increasing power is the goal, the naturally aspirated route is more challenging than using power adders to obtain results.
It is also the most expensive way, considering the dollars-per-horsepower equation.
But, the reward is also there: A simple setup with "all motor" power all the time, with performance equal to or exceeding the power adder route.
I'm always so impressed by the power of N.H.R.A. Pro Stock engines.

My own goals were: Pump gas, (4) cats, reasonable mileage, good power, quiet and reliable.
Mission accomplished, as the truck is a LONG way from the very first 15.2 (Q.C.) 1/4 mile pass.

(More Sunday Morning reflections).

Yes, if I remember right, Tony's twin-turbo ran an 11.2

Trainman and his N.A. Rocket also ran an 11.2, (without power-adders).

Either truck would be a hoot!
