I have a white ball Hurst shift knob with loads of adaptors for different screw threads

How do you remove the stock shift knob?

    Thanks

On the manual trans. Loosen the jam nut under the knob and turn the knob off. Put the correct adapter in the new knob. Screw the knob on untill you reach the jam nut. Turn it back untill the knob is in the correct direction and tighten the jam nut up to the bottom of the knob

Looks good. I have to ask though, your start button is located in the center console, are all R/H drive like that?

Mine was converted to right hand drive in the States before export to the UK

I quite like the new position of it, but it did catch me out when I purchased it pushing my finger where it is meant to be, and having to be pointed out to me by the seller.

The ones I have seen in NZ are on the dash and can be on either side of steering wheel

I would look for a new T56 compatible shifter/knob assembly or get something on eBay. I have not been successful locating a knob that will fit on the stock shifter.
The stock shifter has rubber material separating it from the T56. I can confidently hit 3th every time upshifting under with the Roe SC screaming under max conditions without the stock rubber separator.

The T56 has been used in a lot of cars. Especially the Aussie Holden's and Falcon's.
Therefore they must be on the back of American V8's from Ford and Chev.
There must be something out there that will fit. I have never heard of 6spd gear change issues....until I bought my truck
I have had 2 European 6 speed manuals and they were very slick and fast. So this one is a botched job, but I am sure there will be an answer without spending thousands.
Try Australia EBay and see what is on offer there. They love modifying their convict cars
