Is there a nack to this

None of my sockets seem to grip the plug

Or are they a silly size I don't have ?

Did you go with the Champion spark plugs or NGK?

I use the E3 plugs. It did make a minor difference on mine. gained about 2/10th a gallon on MPG.

    Indexing works.
Point the electrode between 10 and 2 o'clock (toward the Intake Manifold) which is ideal.
I don't like using washers for this.
If the Electrode is pointing down, try another plug until it gets the orientation right (or close).
Don't use thread lube as it works as a heat insulator.
Use a torque wrench to complete as torqued values affect heat transfer.

    My 3 cents.
