Here is an article that is timely but a bit questionable for its current accuracy.

As I have maintained for all the years that I have been a collector of vintage cars, the price is not set by a book. A published selling price is a historical record of what has happened.

The "price" or value for a collector vehicle is set by what a willing selling will accept from a willing buyer. Or conversely. What a willing buyer will give a willing seller.

The World's First 500-HP Pickup Truck Is Getting Cheaper By The Day (msn.com)

I'm glad they finally got it right as to the 8.3l and not a 5.2 like it started out with.

Long live the Queen - hahahaha

I think we all missed his point! Lol
These articles are written, published and many times very misleading.

The between the lines inference with this one is that an SRT-10 pickup was nothing more than a 1/2 ton pickup that some engineers at Chrysler thru a V-10 engine in like they did a few years earlier in a 3/4 or 1 ton platform. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Anyone that is a potential buyer of a SRT-10 unit should carefully weigh and measure their buying decision. Some of the low prices that are seen on an SRT-10 pickup can soon end up to be one of the worse buying decisions they might have ever made.

Sure, the pickup looks somewhat similar to a 1/2 street unit, but that is where the look alike ends. If you buy one on the "cheap price" be prepared to pay for the maintenance needs that have likely been neglected over the years and that could quickly offset that "good deal" low price.

Parts and pieces for them can be an eye opener for the un-suspecting bottom bargain buyer.

Keep in mind, this is only my opinion. I have never been wrong...but have mistaken a few times...but I am quite confident that buying a Dodge SRT-V-10 Viper pickup on the "cheap" is a classic example of the old adage...Buyer Beware!!

Very true and I agree!!

I agree with your opinion but the article is worthless and has no inbetween the line IMO .. Just what you post on your opinion you should contact the author of that article and use your opinion .. I will say that any possible collectible , not just the 10 would be a accurate opinion !

Buyer beware also would include anything you buy .. As we know , most 10's have been modded , run excessivly hard, raced and abused just like any HP vehicle ! DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT !

My SRT-10 has been the most unreliable, expensive vehicle I have ever owned. Has cost approx $80k NZ ($40-$50kUS) in repairs for a lousy 10k miles. 3 sets of spark plugs even. They go well tho. Almost forgiven. Hope to change O2 sensors this week and fix power steer return hose leak and exhaust rubbing on floor. Nearly there. Once I get no more fault lights, I can give it the Jandal.

You didn't mention the MPG's. Here in The Land of Fruits n' Nuts we are still enjoying $5.50 per gallon gas prices.

Are the codes thrown due to having header installed ?
The cats are relocated with the headers arent they ?

No Cats. Headers were already on. Faults Bank 1 O2 sensor 1 High Voltage, then 500 miles a week later, incomplete, then lean. So 3 faults over the month. As far as I know the O2 sensors could be fitted with the headers way back. So change them out. The lower O2 sensors are disconnected. I dropped it off to be fixed this afternoon. Get it back by the weekend. Will do a heat gun test of all exhaust ports too.

We are at $2.72/litre for 100+ RON. Very lucky in this part of the country we have NPD fuel co and they are undercutting the big brands. Otherwise it would be $3.00-$3.20/litre for 98RON 93US BP etc

What codes were thrown (#'s )
With my dakota that has thrown several codes in the last couple months were all related to the drivers side upstream 02 sensor wire sitting on the exhaust .. I moved it off the exhaust and all the other codes went away after resetting and never came back .. except the damn evap. Code ... I do need to replace the drivers 02 sensor at the least since it did melt the insulaion some and the code 0455 returned after a while .. this happened when they did the cluctch a while back ! I already have both upstream 02's and 1 down stream in my stock pile lol .. Procrasination is my game on the 02's since they are a B dog to get to and I'm not as young as I use to be hahaha ...

Were doing the up and down here in FL .. 3.09 with a low a couple weeks ago 2.89 for regular , depending on the gas staions ....
Mid and premium seems to avg. each .20 per variance .

Cali has high tax so in our area Regular is about 4.29

I paid 4.89 at a chevron along the freeway on a recent road trip. HIGHWAY ROBBERY and that was in NV

I plug the laptop into the obewan kenobe port and use HP Tuners to see what has caused a problem. bank1 O2 sensor1 incomplete. bank1 O2 sensor1 high voltage. bank 1 lean.
Tells me bank1 O2 sensor1 is having problems. Being changed out as we speak. In case it is an injector I will put the heat gun over the exhaust ports to see relative uniformity or find the guilty culprit. I then take it out and smash it to pieces with a hammer so then I know it's f**ked and buy another one. Well that's how it works in my house hahaha.
