the ol srt 10 in hibernation as its middle of february an my truck is in storage unlike most of u guys, i was thinking about cleaning up my rims as they are black from the break dust, whats the best way to clean them with soap n water?? aslo the stock rims can you polish them with just aluminum polish to brighten them up??
I use a strong dish soap, warm water and a medium brush for the back side of the wheel. The dish soap will strip old wax of the wheels also. I use the same wax on my wheels, that I use on my truck. They come out looking great. I clean my wheels before I park for the winter, as the break dust and other crap will cause corrosion/pitting on the back side of the wheels.
To ge my rims bling as hell before i painted them black i used a preassure washer and some kind of heavy duty cleaning liquid. Could harldy belive there had been any **** on them ^^ They where black from the dust.
most of the factory wheels were clear coated. my black one was not, but red is. takin the wheels in tomorrow to get redone
Not to sound ignorant but is the general consensus to pull them off to clean them or are folks rolling underneath?
Pull them off to clean. Then you can check suspension, brakes, etc, for everything & catch anything that looks like it might need attention. Everytime I change oil & filter, I put front end on jackstands to check everything you can't see or get to from "uptop"..
i clean mine when i rotate the tires:rock::rock::rock: even with my big d&$k beaters, i can get between the spokes to clean the insides:rock::rock::rock:
