Bad tie rod end after 22,000 miles

Has anybody else had a bad tie rod end after this low of mileage? I went to get some new tires put on and there was like 1-2" of play in the front left tire. They said that the left, outside tie rod end needed to be replaced. Could it just be a bad tie rod end from the factory, or what?

Also, anybody know where I could get one at?

I would be leaning more towards a hub going bad, not a tie rod. :dontknow:

I've heard that they go bad frequently.
