This weekend I'll be submitting my truck in a car show. It will be submitted under the stock truck class. If my wish comes true, the fellow here in town will submit his F150 Saleen. So next monday, an update will be posted and I'll also post pictures of my favorite picks. Last year a 1950 Chevy Truck won best of show, not saying I'll win that. I'll be doing a complete detailing from tires to door jams to engine bay to A/C vents. Any tips you might have post it. Later.

cant wait to see the pics. good luck man. if i was a judge i you would win.

good luck,be sure to clean all the hard to get at places.thats where the judges will be looking.

I'm amped! Tomorrow i'll be the interior including engine bay and friday clay baring and waxing. Saturday... redetailing at the show. Would it be a good idea to have the doors, tailgate and toneau cover open? Hood is a given. Just hope it's not a crappy day.

Open everything up so they can see you are not trying to hide anything.

And good luck.

When I was at the AutoRama I was given several tips by one of the tour competitors.

1. The Vehicle has to be as open as possible, doors, tonneau, hood.
2. Clean everything, even the stuff you can't see. They will look!
3. Armor All The entire tire, including the tread (just be very careful when leaving).
4. If there is an event sticker, make sure they can see it.
5. If you think your done, your not, start over and clean some more.

I was there when the judges were doing the Charger behind mine. The reason it needs to be open, if they can't get to it, it won't be judged....lost points. They didn't touch anything, they just looked. But they crawled on the ground just to get a look. They looked much like a bunch of CSI agents looking for evidence. It was quite a sight to see. I'm not sure what kind of show your going to, but if its a good one, you will have good judges and fair.

Enjoy your day, have a checklist of things you don't want to overlook.

And best of all

Have Fun

Jeff

Don't forget the fender liners!:D Good luck!

You are representing all of us! Make us proud.

Water spots on the under side of the grill pieces reflect in the lower pieces.

Can You believe this...

My turck recieved a two day makeover. Thursday I wiped the engine bay down and armor-alled everything that needed it, vacumed the interior and wiped all the leather and plastic with protectant and last cleaned the truck bed off. Friday I started early by cleaning the rims, tires and fender wells. Washed and rinsed then clayed and rinsed. Dried it quickly and after a 30 minute brake continued on to waxing. It took my buddy and me almost 3 hours to wax and buff. The truck looked better after we were finished then it did when I drove it off the lot. Saturday (day of the show) I arrived to the location around 9 am, and there she sat all day ready for her long deserved trophy. I detailed her once I got there and againg every 2.5 hours. This show had its highest turnout in 22 years of 257 cars. There were less then a dozen newer cars/trucks that first place. I don't even remember 2nd or 3rd. In my class the "stock truck catagory" 3 out of 8 were "newer" trucks. A Dodge Dakota, a Saleen and my truck. There was an El Camino SS, a Rancharo and some older ones. The El Camino took first a 1960 somthing Chevy V8 truck (one of 800 made in V8) took second and another old trcu took third. I was upset I didn't place but felt better the saleen didn't either. His engine bay dirty and didn't even have any doors open. I figured he made me look bad by just parking next to me. Here are some pics like promised from the show. Enjoy them I know I did.
