Hi all,

l was wondering what most of you think are some of the more important things to be upgraded on the trucks, functionality wise. l've been trolling the forum for some time now, and have determined the clutch or slave seems to be a pretty weak spot, and many have mentioned forging the internals. l ask, to what extent about forging the internals, like crank, rods, piston upgrade?, and are there any other 'weak spots' to be concerned about? A lot have mentioned the stock shifter stinks as well. Thanks!!

usually the clutch is the main weekspot, Justin sells a centerforce kit with viper master and slave that is highly reccomended.

and it depends on what your future holds as to others, depending on if you want nos, or forced induction or naturally aspirated.

but mainly rods and pistons, with the pistons being the big weak spot under forced induction.

there are many variables there.

but other than that the spider gears in the rear axle usually take a good beating. either replace them and have them cyroed, or replace the entire axle with a upgrade.

Definitely need to upgrade the master slave....stock clutch is barely OK...you could get by with it but might want to upgrade to a CenterForce if you start modding heavy....forged internals are not necessary unless you are going 600+HP.......and replace the stock shifter with a B&M or X-metal......if you advertise in the wanted section you could probably get either used for a third the cost of a new one...

Ditto on the CF clutch and viper slave, as well as the shifter. Anything is better than stock. If you have an 04 rear gears need to changed to 4.88 or 4.56.

As far as go fast mods the basics IMO are, new muffler, cat delete, and a DC stage two flash.

The shifter is pretty sloppy, and can make the 2-3 shift a crap shoot. It's much more fun to drive with a better shifter, to be sure.

Not a weak spot exactly, but these trucks will handle much better with a reasonable drop kit, and shock/sway bar/bushing upgrade. The tail on these trucks can really "wag" at high speed. This is almost completely eliminated with said upgrades.

Neither of the above is particularly expensive, and will add much to your driving enjoyment of this truck.
