Getting Tinted

I just came back from getting the back window on my caddy done (the previous owner was leary of having them trim around the rag top!!) when I started inquiring about getting the SRT-10 done. After a lot of thought I decided to have the guy order a film from Suntek called Infinity. Its a metallic tint that has a slight mirror like affect. I saw it on a customers car in 5% and noticed it seemed light for a 5% tint. I'm going to go with 10% all around as 20% seemed to light and they don't make a 15%. Heres a link with a picture of a silver Benz with with the Infinity tint! I think it looks great and will go very good with the silver SRT-10! I'm just curious what others have done and if anyone else has gone with the Infinity tint.

real similar to the tint on my truck i like it:rock: :rock:
 
I have limo tint all the way around, the back is very dark! I also have the limo across the top of the windshield. $300 cash, I am very happy, but can't see anything at night out of my windows. I think the mirror affect would only look good with a silver truck:dontknow:

The truck is just fro enjoyment so I was thinking of doing the ENTIRE windshiled in 50 premium tint. The guy at the Tint show said it would give the front windshield a light smoke effect. I'm gonna wait and decide once the other windows are done. I originally wanted the Infinity tint on the top of the windshield as you described but I'm not sure if it's gonna look the way I want it with the mirror type effect the metallic tint makes. The total tint job I got quoted for was $170 without the front windshield plus I'll slip the installer a twenty to take care of my baby!

each state is different but you are allowed a strip that measures 6" down from the top of the windshield (each state has its own laws on how far the tint can come down) but tinting the entire windshield is illegal! BUt with such a light tint, it would be hardly noticable. The 10% all around would catch attention before the windshield. In CT the limit is 20% for the rear window and 35% for the two front windows, we have no limit set on the rear passenger windows. All aftermarket tint applications in CT are supposed to be inspected to ensure proper light transfer. Once inspected, a sticker is issued that is applied to the inside of the driver side window indicating the tint has passed inspection. To tell you the truth, I've never seen this done and its not really enforced IMO. The wost that can happen if someone stopped, is the officer will give you an Infraction for failing to have the proper tint sticker in addition to having a a warning ticket issued requiring an inspection. Again, I've never seen one of these "tint" stickers!! So to make a long story short, the 10% tint would be illegal as well as tinting the entire windshield!
 
In NJ, tinting from the driver's position forward(front doors and windshield) is illegal. With that said, mine is going back to the shop to have the entire windshield tinted to match my 15% doors....:D :dontknow:
 
Derek even though you are only tinting the windshield with 50% you will notice it. The effect of the tinted side and back windows will magnify the effect of the tinted windshield. We tinted a few windshields here, and you can tell that it has been tinted. It looks good, but the police here don't like it at all.

I use mine as a daily driver so doing the whole windshield is out of the question. The guy who did my truck came to my house, %170 is a good price, the $300 for me also included my wife Yukon. Limo here (on front windows) is illegal so it had to be cash only. The dark tint is one of the best visual mods in my opinion. Looks awesome on silver!

Two cars,especially a SUV as one of them, for $300 is a good deal. The Infinity is a about $40 extra due to increased cost of the product and the more tedious installation time. Any dust or dirt gets between the tint and the window and it looks like crap!

Thats what I was figuring and the reason I'm gonna wait till the other windows are done before I decide what to do with the windshield.

Pictures of mine?? I should have it done on Saturday but I'm scheduled to work a double and go in at 2:30 p.m. but I get out at 6:30 am that morning so I'm not sure if I'm gonna leave it there. I wont leave m,y truck there overnight and sure as hell not the weekend. I'll see if they can get r done maybe on friday? I'll post some before and after pictures I attached a sexy pic a took a few weeks back just for shits!!
 
limo tint (5%) $100...but here in florida we have tinters on every corner...1 year warranty on install and 7 years on the tint itself
 
I guess my tint didn't come in, I never got a call from the installer! It might come in later today by UPS but thats gonna put the install off till monday at the earliest! Again, I'll be sure to post some before and after pictures once its done!
 
yeah other thing is the reflective tint lots of places dont allow that either i know here in NY its illegal no matter what tint % it is. but they only allow 70% but they are fairly lax i can get away with 20% without to much hassle what i had on my dakota prior to this :)
 
I had the factory tint on the back darkened and put 5% on the front doors, a 5% ws strip down to the mirror and 20% tint on the rest of the ws. Love it in the day time. No one can see me pick my nose even on the brightest day. But, usually need to keep my lights on bright at night. I don't drive too much at night anyway. The ws being tinted helps the temp. on the inside during the day and helps prevent dash fade and cracking! Just my 2 cents!
